Dantes does have a point even if it's made in his usual exaggerated manner.

The squad merry-go-round we saw over the course of a few summers was always subject to much debate on here and whilst I don't really want to start that up again, it's fair to say that there were definite cons as well as pros to that policy.

It would've been nice had we a couple more decent players from that period, but that's not why we find ourselves in our present predicament in my opinion. The problem stems from the fact that Rafa had his '02 summer last summer and hasn't been able to rectify his mistakes because we have cunts for owners.

but they are his mistakes to rectify. the owners could look rafa in the eye and say 'whose fault is it you bought keane and dossena?'. that's 28 million right there.

They could do that, but that's not going to get anyone anywhere, is it?

Rafa did have an absolute shocker of a summer last year... very few will disagree with that but it doesn't change the fact that the squad needed to be reinforced this summer and the owners haven't really provided any transfer funds.

even if they provided transfer funds, look at how much a top player costs these days? funds or no funds we couldn't afford them. what we should have done was spend the last five years accumulating that class when it was affordable. its too late now

you'll get no arguement from me all I will say is if rafa had put all his eggs in one basket for a wide player last season like he put all his eggs in one basket for fullback this season then transfer funds would probably be a moot point (we proably would have won the league last season as well). well the transfer window is going to close soon and I don't see us getting anyone else, we just have to greet out teeth and get on with i and pray what we have is enough.

That's so naive its untrue, after the first season when we just bought one class expensive player we'd have failed to make top four and plan is over, if they were a success or not.

Thats very true.

Last season was the first we've had where in which we could have opted for quality over quantity, and Rafa messed it up to be fair.

This season we were in a prime position to take over as number one in the country, yet due to our fuckwit owners we've failed to do all that we could have done to ensure this is the case.

So there is no money. No Silva, No Villa, No Young, No Ribery (sobs).

We really did need more strength in depth up front. Look at the team we're playing tomorrow.

Spurs dedicated Strikers in 1st team squad: Defoe, Keane, Crouch, Pavilychenko (sp)

Us: Torres, N'Gog, Voronin - 2 of those players wouldn't make it into most Prem teams, though I have hope N'Gog will improve.

I don't count Kuyt as he is essentially a RW. We really should have strengthened.

[/quote]Hey hey hey, babe babe babe *pushes glasses up nose*
The transfer window isnt closed yet. We could still sell Voronin and Dossena and snap up one of those players. Maybe he has 10m left and wants to add 10m more before signing a 20m player, who knows.
Its not time to panic.

The only post of any optimistic kind!!!

That's a fucking excellent summer for the yanks then! They've done fucking marvelously. Rafa has funded his transfers purely from sales and it's not cost them a penny.

Nice little money spinning business they've got going on there.

It would have been nice to bring in another player or two, but I dont think we have done too bad this summer.
Lost Sami, replaced him with Conan the Barbarian. But Sami played only a handful of games, as will Conan, so shouldn't affect the team too much. Lost Arby, in comes Magic. No doubts who we would rather have. Out goes Xabi, in comes Purple, whos' impact has yet to bee seen. It would have been fab to spend the Keane cash on another striker, but shit happens. We should be able to reach last seasons' points total, and hopefully have a bit more in the tank. There may be some cash in January for us, if Rafa hasn't resigned by then.

One thing that really does worry/annoy me is the fact that City are closing the gap on the big 4 teams very quickly indeed. If we'd shown just a little bit of adventure in the transfer market this season, we could have pulled away from our rivals in terms of squad quality. As it stands we have a very good group of players, but their isn't much difference between the top teams now.

We've missed a huge opportunity, i just hope and pray we don't live to regret it.

By the looks of things it's one-way traffic from here on in.

Anybody we sell ain't getting replaced, the Crow will have to do

He is a legend.

It's nice to have someone at the club who says things straight.

Rafa and the owners are regularly full of shit.

Couldn't he simply have said "no" though? Does the fact that he didn't do so suggest we're still trying to do some transfer business?

Well we still haven't had our fucking-waste-of-time-and-space Bosman and, there's always the hope of a loaner.

I presumed the 'bank on it' bit was just a joke, wasn't it? And maybe a slight dig.

Everything is obviously pointing to no more players coming in, and yet I've convinced myself that someone will be coming in, maybe a Bosman or a free, but based on absolutely nothing at all, I think we're gonna get one more player in. I am delusion personified.

I hope you're right, the best we can hope for is a Baptiste, and hope that he just provides that bit extra that we need across the course of the season.

I hope Rafa doesn't try to make some kind of foolish point to the American's at the cost of the team.

Was it? Oh fuck 🙁
