I think there are valid points to be made about his suitability. It's great him showing signs of improvement in his overall play last night, but it was only Sunderland - by the same token, Borini carved himself two great chances that he was unlucky with, on another day they could have gone in, but it doesn't change much about our opinion of him. Whereas Benteke had a bit of fortune with the way his chance fell to him.
One thing you just cannot take away from him is that he's one of the most instinctive finishers in the Premiership. One thing you *can* level at him is that he's not the most intelligent of footballers, and I think that shows in both his approach play and his conversion rate when he has to think about an opportunity.
If he's keen to improve then that's good for him and us, but I think when we clearly want a fluid attack that interchanges constantly - which we saw at it's very best against City, Chelsea and Southampton, then he falls short of fitting into that setup. His price puts questions over how feasible it is to keep him as an option too. As I say, he's a great finisher and his record so far is as good as he's been elsewhere, statistically, so people labelling him "shit" or "awful" are just exaggerating their doubts about him. As I say though, some reservations about him aren't unreasonable.
