Lampard.

I think Brendan has pretty much nailed it.

Gerrard has more natural talent than and is more of an athlete, but unfortunately has played in a below par team that he's had to carry for most of his career. Despite this, he is recognized amongst his peers as one of the greatest players in the modern game, I mean how many times have we heard players in other teams in the CL talk about him as the complete modern footballer?

Lampard is obviously respected (and rightly so), but he's just another top class player making the most out of playing in a top class team.

I think gerrard is more talented but lampard is more consistant.
now that the league is over I hope both of them have a storming world cup.

Gerrard's the better player.

Lampard now plays better however.

As Brendan points out, teh fact Lampard plays for Chelsea & Stevie plays amongst our dross is the reason why. Before the d second leg in the Uefa Cup the other week they showed a montage of Stevie the week before, playing pass after pass & making himself available in space time & again, fantastic work off the ball & on, & each time it was wasting cos the teammates around him simply couldnt make the runs, predict or see him making them.

If Stevie were in that chelsea side he'd be better than Lampard by a country mile.

However, one caveat to that, lampard is the better captain, he behaves like a captain 90% of the time, unlike Gerrard, who doesnt control, or even try to control, other players when he should. Mascher being the prime example, Stevie never puts an arm round him & steers him away from the ref & that's cost us time & again.

Never understood Lampard being written off here. Some really stupid comments about his ability and comparing him to Stevie. Hes a 20 goal a season player and I wish he were in our team. Fat Fwank. FFS. Wake up and smell the roses.

I wish I could easily dismiss Gerrard's failures this season as someone disillusioned and brought down by the shit play surrounding him. Gerrard has been miles off his best, and while some of it is certainly down to attitude, and the fact that we don't have the possession his game now thrives on, he was the author of some of our worst play this season as well. We are talking fundamental errors with alarming regularity, some awful passing, poor decision making, a lack of aggression at times, and worst of all the habitual shrugging of his shoulders even at his own errors. His endurance doesn't seem anywhere near what it used to be either.

Agree there.

Oh and Lampard's a brilliant footballer and has been for years. What a player he's been for Chelsea.

oh tht's low mate. But I did laugh

I like Carra's description:

"Lampard's become a World class player, Stevie was born one."

Still, Lampard's achievements are sorely underrated on here. His record stands for itself.

A better Phil Collins collection?

Corrected

Hmmmmm Fwank v Stevie? I would not like to go out for an evening with either to be honest. Fwank would undoubtedly be a better laugh though

what has Gerrard got that Lampard doesn't have x 100000 now?

A mum?

Arf!

I don't think Lampard is as capable a player as Gerrard's Istanbul and West Ham moments but there's no doubting he's been more consistent over the years at Prem level. Obv, as stated, playing for a much better team helps.
