Konoplyanka (a tiny bit NSFW, sorry)

i guess you have to try and sometimes it's out of your hands but why did we move so late for this guy ? Although i guess you could ask the same of alot of clubs.

I'd be surprised if they didn't want more money - I'm not sure how he can possibly be worth only £16m when Willian and Lamela went for £30m. He looks a better player than either.

Because our first choice target rejected us a few days ago.

but is this guy not going to cost more than our first choice target ? Could we not then have done more to get salah ?. And then could we not have put the feelers out on the backup earlier to move swiftly when the first deal collapsed ?

We were waiting until the Summer to get him, its separate to Salah. We moved for him because we were alerted to interest (by other clubs) and because we lost out on Salah, we essentially wanted both but were going to wait till the Summer for this guy.

If only hindsight can be used on every decision in life...

I'm not panicking.
I've never been more sure that we will sign a player and I'm that way since the story came out a few days ago.
It's a done deal eventually lads.

Probably, but there's tonnes of information relevant to this that we'll never be made aware of so it's impossible to say.

i hear you but at the same time it's their job to be organised and plan for all occasions. Obviously though i don't know anything behind the scenes so it may well have been the case , it should be the case but in football you never know .

Honestly, don't go into a negotiation with anyone from Eastern Europe, without Leverage, or being willing to walk away: otherwise, expect to get savaged.

This is what it looks like is happening, they are trying to squeeze as much as possible out of us.

Well, he hasn't got long left on his deal and we were going to go in for him in the Summer, so it's not really giving them loads of room to manoeuvre, other that them just trying it on because they know time is running out for us. Let's see who gets twitchy first.

His agent has said that it's down to his club fucking around, so hopefully people will keep that in mind before doing the fashionable thing.

Isn't their owner loaded. They don't need to sell?

The 1 year left on his contract should help us.

Isn't it also the case that the Russian FA have said Dnipro cannot buy anyone this window?

Still, it'll get done.

Hopefully they are just trying it on with no intention of seeing any threat of not selling him through.

Wait a sec, theres been a development...

Don't know if this has already been posted but I'll be fucked if I'm trawling back through this thread.

General blank looks and even bafflement at Anfield over rumours that Konoplyanka is preparing to board a plane to England, so it seems the deal isn't as advanced as Ukrainian media outlets would suggest.

Unofficial eastern European twitter feeds jumping the gun and proving wide of the mark? Who'd have thought it?!

Liverpool believe a deal can still be done for the winger, but rate their chances as no better than 50-50 at this moment in time, so perhaps he's not collecting the boarding card just yet. And as we suggested earlier, it seems we may still be here at 11pm, waiting to see if they finally get the deal over the line.....

Why would he be boarding a plane when earlier we sent someone out there to do the medical ? IF the deal gets done he'll be here middle of next week after he's had time to sort out his affairs back home.

i'd love to be a fly on the wall for one of these deadline day deals . I suspect it's alot of sitting around and not half as professional an operation as you'd imagine.

Well all contract amendments would have to be translated into Russian / Ukrainian and didn't his agent say something about the incredible number of small details that have to be ironed out too ? I imagine it's not so quick/easy as people imagine.

Maybe I've been reading too many thrillers, but it crossed my mind that Salah may have been a smokescreen - aiming to get Chelsea/Tottenham to show their hand, and then we could move in on our real target as the competition had been removed. Maybe not ... but I'm sure there is a lot of manoeuvring.

He won't be boarding a plane due to the simple fact that obviously no one signs their contract on air. Flight turbulence might ruin the signatures thus making the contract ineligible. As if Ayre wasn't inept enough already...
