Souness was just in the studio with Keys and Gray and he wondered what the stalling was all about.

"There is no other person !" he stated.

I think the reason is many people have earmarked him as the next big thing. he is jose's understudy and his teams plays with attacking, aggressive football.
So does Kenny. Kenny was NEVER anyone's understudy and built the most exciting attacking Liverpool ever and is a proven winner and can stand up to Fergie
Still- Kenny has taken a struggling, injury riven squad, and turned them into the PL's form team, coping with a massive restructuring of the team in the process. That's proven, a matter of record. Give him the job already.
Yeah I'd be a bit devastated if Kenny didn't get the job permanently. It just feels right and the results have been excellent.

Then again, this might be our only realistic chance to sign Villas Boas who is being widely touted as the next big thing so it's not an easy decision by any means.

if the yanks are indeed planning on bringing in boas you can see why they were reluctent to bin roy as changing boas with roy would have been much easier than changing boas with kenny (as I said earlier in the season). if boas came in and didn't immediately pull up trees I think the calls for kenny would be deafining, that's ridiculous pressure to put a new manager under.

So instead they bring in Kenny who does impressively well in a short amount of time so when Boas comes in and doesnt impress immediately the calls to bring back Kenny would be equally 'deafining' ?

I find it hard to believe that people opted for other than Kenny after what he's done barely 4 months in charge considering where we were. The King ticks all the boxes for a Liverpool manager and has prove that his time out of the game, which was the only negative, has proven not to be an issue.

Truly amazing.
I'm a bit shocked myself.

I think this thread appeared first after the WBA defeat.

Dalglish is the guy we want. I'm not interested in Boas at all.

I think both are an attractive option and wouldn't be upset with either. I certainly wont be up in arms if they did choose boas but kenny has done more than enough to deserve the job but the yanks may be thinking of the long term and to be absolutely fair to the yanks it's not like they haven't done this before (brought in a young new manager the second they got settled in).
i voted for boas as i want long term appointment. I know kenny could easily have a good few years, but i want long term options sorted

Although out of those 3 i really don't mind who is given the job. i'll be thrilled
It's debatable which one would be the longer term appointment in the end though. Kenny could easily still have closer to 10 years left if the results are positive. How long do you think Villas Boas can resist the temptations of Real or Barca if they come calling(and they will if he'll be a big success)?

I would. There is logic in looking for a replacement if Dalglish had only been able to stop the rot left by Hodgson and enforce a mild improvement, but as we've all witnessed, he's done far more than that and exceeded the majority of peoples expectations. What's more he's done it with a squad which was left dispirited and lacking in confidence from the past two regimes, and grossly lacking in depth.

What more could Kenny have done? What more could anyone have done?

For the first time in years we're starting to move forwards. Why risk upsetting that because some guy has won the league in Portugal with the side who always win the league? Are we really a club to go through four managers in 12 months?

I think we're remarkably fortunate to have Kenny here and people are starting to forget that.

"If" this was true, do you think the fans would give this bloke a fair go?
he'd get time, but it'd be like roy where no one would sing his name and they'd be dismissive of anything he does.

Results would be absolutely crucial. If they went the right way the fans would gradually warm to him. Even Roy could have won them over if he'd got the team winning.

Depends on production of goods.

Kenny has that strange capacity to bring the four cornerstones of the club, owners/ players/ staff/ fans into harmony. He's come back into it and has been magnificent- things we didn't think of too much, like handling the press have been absolutely brilliant, he's taken the pressure off the club, and turned us almost immediately from a 'club in crisis' into a stable unit. We've had a few disappointing games, but we've generally been much improved under Kenny, and that in spite of massive injuries, suspensions and the need to change some personnel. This Boas guy would need to be astonishing to follow up Kenny.

This is the hard thing about football these days. It's really bi polar. one week we beat united or Chelsea, and Kenny is the man who came down from the mountain. A week later we look like Muck against The two Westies, and one wonders....is Kenny lacking something....is he the man for the job?

Your post sums it up well Doctor Mac. We really have been transformed. It's been progress not perfection. Sometimes, I expect perfection. We really have gone from a club in crisis to a much better place, and really one couldn't have had much higher expectations that how we all felt Monday night. From a club on the ropes to one, where we're on fire (with no Gerrard) and we can't see WHY a player with ambition wouldn't come to us. Kenny has given us positive momentum, and we couldn't have asked for more. Now, a win against the Arse and we'll be sent out of the stratosphere!!
That is totally on the money Doc.

If we had the form and the points gained under Kenny for the duration of the season so far, we definitely would be in the Champs league qualifers place with the added bonus of still being somewhat in the title race.
If that were the case then we wouldn't be having this concverstaion becuase it would be widely accepted that Roy was a genius.

I simply cannot believe that people want anyone other than Kenny at the moment.
Those wanting a sexy name or a sexy manager should remember, that it was under Kenny's management that Liverpool played the most exciting brand of football that England and probably the world of football has seen.

Doc and Count have summed it up perfectly; I believe there isn't a chance this story is true.

FSG will definitely be looking at long-term replacements, assuming they're here that long. But ayone can see tha our main problems now are with personnel, and I dare say no manager could have done better than Kenny so far.

I do confess to having some long-term issues with Kenny's tactical ability, especially in Europe, which is why I hope he does find some skilled people to help in that regard. But no one NO ONE could have come in and raised the spirits and united the players as well as Kenny did just 4 months ago.

Think of it; it's just 4 months since he's taken over and things look so different now.

I don't believe FSG are that blind not to see it.

Absolutely. This 'long term' thing, do they want to sign up Boas for 20 years? Managers usually get 4/5 year contracts and the King doesn't have terminal cancer. Even Fergie defers to the King.

From results since Kenny took over we'd be joint second in the league 2 points behind Man U who are in a right purple patch. I firmly believe Kenny deserves a chance beyond summer. Here's a cryptic one though....

Chris Bascombe: " Can't imagine there is a manager in the world cheeky or arrogant enough to expect the #lfc job ahead of Dalglish. Is there? "

Just the one, unfortunately.

I just don't think we're really in a position to gamble on anyone, especially someone like Boas. Sure, it might be an instance where a few years down the line we might regret it if he's working wonders at a rival, but we're onto a good thing with Kenny and we have that 'settled ship' we needed at the start of the season.

I think what's fair now is that we let Kenny show how far he can take us and go from there, we need to get ourselves back to a position of strength before we start thinking more about the longterm.

That cunt would only come here if there is money to spend.

He said he wouldn't though thankfully

I want Kenny in charge next year. I want him to be backed well by our owners. I want to win the league next year. Most of all though I want Kenny to knock the smile of that cunt Ferguons face and knock him well and truly off his cocky arsed perch.
