I know we all know he doesn't get talked about enough, but by god he doesn't get talked about enough. He's operating at a level close to peak VVD, he's been supreme, best in the league easily this season, and he looks like a giraffe, I love him.

Also as if his first name is Job, what's that about.

Doesn't look as tough as he actually is, but opposition forwards soon find out the truth if they try to bully him, and the way he brings the ball out from the back reminds me of Jocky Hansen. There can be no higher praise for a Liverpool CB.

Up until Salah's goal, I thought Matip was our best player by far. Almost the only one who tried to reignite our football in the 1st half, a half-dozen absolutely key interceptions and challenges that saved from going behind. Football is cruel sometimes and the deflection at the end was unfortunate, but he should be proud of this performance – not just one of a defender, but a proper leader.

He certainly isn’t yet this season but has been over the last 3 years.

Matip needs to stay fit and bring that level of consistency. I doubt either will happen.

Always thought Matip was not only a better CB than Gomez, but a more solid Cb than Gomez. Make fewer Mistakes,Reads the game better, better positional sense. Just see the way he afforded so much space to Froden after he came on.
After see this it was not hard to see why Milner started,
Matip knows when to commit to himself and try and win the ball.Gives away less free kicks than Gomez...
Just all round better than Gomez

There are very few better defenders in the league than Matip, his only real limitation is his durability. He's a superb player.

So let me see if I have this correct...
I have a problem with Gomez and the way he plays and you say that I have a pathological dislike of him...?
What of you players you dislike or have problems with..? is that also "pathological"

I simple rate Matip and Philips better than Gomez, and Lovren no better or worst than him. Not say that I am right or anyone that disagree is wrong, but rather that is my opinion,just like you disagreeing is yours
