The Western Bulldogs (AFL team) have reached the Preliminary Finals (effectively the semi-final) of the AFL here, and on Friday night play St Kilda in what will be one of their biggest games in 30 years. This the best chance they've had of winning the whole thing in many people's lifetimes, and the game is likely to be a 90,000 sellout.
Their President David Smorgon, their biggest supporter, all-round good guy, and man who's taken them from the bottom of the ladder to within a chance of glory after pumping millions into the club won't be at the game on Friday night cos he's gotta go to the Synagogue. What a fucking joker.
He was on Radio this morning effectively saying that "it wouldn't look good if I didn't go to the Jewish New Year."
Utterly ridiculous.
