And it doesn't help seeing that bastard Alonso in the stands either though

😱

I knew they'd score a second after 1-1, at least they scored their second earlier on as opposed to the ultimate sucker punches that we've been receiving of late in the last couple of minutes.

Yes it is simply because we all knew Ged's time was up.

Rafa could easily be here next season and that is depressing with the likes of Lucas around.

Unlike Houllier's final season, I look at our squad and there a couple of genuine world class players on the pitch for us, and I fear what's gonna happen to them. I feel sick to the pit of my stomach at the thought they they might not be playing for us for much longer.

Indeed. I never bought into the nonsense argument that if Benitez left then all the good players would also leave. Didn't add up and still doesn't.
However I do firmly believe that if we are not qualifying for the CL at the very least keeping hold of our better players will not be easy.

It was similar albeit on a smaller scale in Houllier's last season by the way. Speculation all year that Owen and Gerrard would be off.

This has been a precipitous decline, rather than the slow bleed we had then.

That reason alone tends to make you think we'll come out of it, but it's certainly not based on anything we've seen on the pitch. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest we are recovering form.

If the season continues like this, it'll be worse simply because the expectations are higher as well as the cost of failure.

The end of our great club is nigh....

Rafa?
The Owners?
Moores?
Parry?

Draw your own conclusions who is to blame... fact is too many of our fringe players are not good enough.

Cf. Cavelieri, Dossena, Darby, Degen, Skrtel, Kryagonis (sp), Lucas, Plessis, Spearing, Babel, El Zhar, N'gog.

A 2nd XI to strike fear into mighty Marine at best!

The injury crisis is bad but it is only bad because our squad is shit.

Quite. While we have been unfortunate to suffer so many injuries to key players, our inability to replace them with anything resembling Premiership quality has nothing to do with luck at all.

I'm glad you enjoyed that thrilling ride last season Terrier. Remember your posts when we went through a bad patch early on though?

are you still optimistic mamma? tell me its true cause I have lost it. What good are we approaching(you still aiming for)?

🙁 honestly i was somewhat satisfied that at least our loss yesterday will give Arsenal a better chance of winning it over Utd and Chelsea.

The realist in me would say that it's extremely unlikely for us to win the league this season. That said, it isn't my sense of realism that makes me a football fan.

No.

Houllier's last year was like death by a 1000 cuts.

237 and counting for this season.

Well I'd more than be willing to follow your train of thought. Besides that I am resigned to hoping we finish infront of Utd in 3rd

There can't surely be any sane fans left who think we can win the league this year.

It's utterly depressing to think about Football nowadays.

He's lost the players, much like Houllier did in his final season.[/quote]

Yup, it will be interesting to see if any of the top players (Reina, Mascherano, Gerrard, Torres) make comments supporting him in the coming weeks if we cannot get closer to 4th spot.
