Kenny it seems is looking and paying (over the odds at times) for British Talent. Will this transfer policy hurt us in europe?

yes, this policy does look a bit silly, we need to identify the best talent and players irrespective of their nationality. Suarez and Henderson nearly cost the same, which is just ridiculous. if two players are equal then it might be worthwhile prioritising a brit.

Well in the short term of course it doesn't matter anyway. We need to get back into Europe first, and its possible that British players could settle quicker.

In the longer term, I don't see that it should hurt us necessarily. If the players are good enough then no problem. Plenty of teams in other countries don't have loads of players who are foreign to them, and when United won the CL in 1999 they had a fair number of British players I believe

16 million for henderson and 22.6 for suarez isnt 'nearly costing the same'. Thats a whole 'lucas' in the difference right there!! 8)

Not if the players themselves are good enough, besides which it may reduce the chances of their wanting away before their contracts expire.

Kenny presumably bought British talent to restore an identity, mental toughness and loyalty to the club that has been convoluted by foreign imports whose only loyalty is to the Pound!

Now I don't necessarily subscribe to this because I believe that we should get the best players for the club regardless of nationality. However its hard to overlook the episodes of foreign players engineering moves away from the club eg. Torres and Mascherano etc. This created a vacuum where we have lost world class who were not replaced. Kenny's quick and decisive action in selling and replacing Torres with a potentially world class strike partnership make yet be one of the most significant deals in out history.

Speaking on the issue of Money..

Downing plus Adam = Suarez
Henderson plus Adam = Suarez

Yes, not sure on this philosophy - we need more continentals if we make it back into the big CL.

In the meantime, we're missing an Irishman and a Welshman (former may explain Shane long attempts)...

Not directing this at you Redhorizon but to be honest i'm getting increasingly cheesed off with every man and their dog bleating on about Kenny's British signings...Premier League Club in buying players from the Premier League shocker. Whoopy doo.

Has Fergie never bought British players before? It's as if Kenny Dalglish is the only Manager to buy British players. Ahhhh. >🙁

Yep, You could argue that the basis of United's squads has mostly been British, with homegrown talent along with the odd coup from the Premiership like Ferdinand, Rooney, Carrick, Young etc.

thought henderson was 20m in total, which is approx the same. We need more suarez's and less hendersons/downings/adams'/dann/carrolls...

Pretty sure 20m and 22.6m isn't approximately the same. Put it this way if your employers only gave you 88.5% of your wages since it's approx the same, would you be happy?

you need to see the impact of the 'hendersons/downings/adams'/carrolls' before saying we need more of anything.

in the grand world of football transfers of 20m plus I dont think it is a significant amount, the main point though is that one player is almost world class whereas the other is an unproven youngster who has barely one cap at international level.

you're grabbing at straws. 20m and 22.6 is around the same ball park.
His got a point, could £20m get you a better player than Henderson whose not British?
