Top 10 wingers in the PL?

Even the times he's scored against us and looked their most dangerous player?
No, then I thought he had a bit of an eye for a finish, against a team that gave shit teams big chances regularly.

I just don't see much special there, overall, especially in transition. I remember him being really mediocre in transition and buildup when starting a move deeper.

I feel like Diaz still provides more in general play - if you’re not a well-olied machine, that might be prefereable for some teams.

Gakpo is like a stealth striker - doesn't catch the eye as much, almost conserves energy - but then he does often impact the result in a few key moments. With more and more teams sitting deeper against us, Gakpo’s qualities are becoming increasingly valuable for us.

Someone is going to buy Elanga for big money at some point. I hope it's not us, he's a decent player but that's all. But I'll have anyone a pound that Chelsea or City pay £60M for him.

Some stats to help everyone out:

Salah 26 goals, 18 assists in all comps (yeah, ridiculous!)
Gakpo 16 goals, 5 assists (not bad!)
Diaz 12 goals, 3 assists (also not bad)
Saka 9 goals, 13 assists
Kulusevski 9 goals, 9 assists
Son 10 goals, 8 assists
Gordon 9 goals, 6 assists
Mbeumo 14 goals, 4 assists
Diallo 9 goals, 7 assists
Semenyo 9 goals, 4 assists
Ouattara 8 goals, 4 assists
Madueke 8 goals, 4 assists
Garnacho 7 goals, 6 assists
Bowen 7 goals, 4 assists
Martinelli 7 goals, 4 assists
Doku 6 goals, 7 assists
Mitoma 6 goals, 3 assists
Elanga 3 goals, 6 assists

And some others who are not doing so well…

Grealish 2 goals, 5 assists (more than I expected, honestly)
Rashford 7 goals, 3 assists (also more than I thought)
Savinho 2 goals, 8 assists
Sancho 2 goals, 6 assists
Kudus 3 goals, 2 assists (possibly flop of the season, compared to his potential)

And who had the top 10 in that list on his list without checking the stats?
Mhm...you know it, the guy with two thumbs pointing at himself right now.
Damn I'm good. 🤣

Maybe not, after I’ve edited the list 😉

Yeah Mbuemo always looks very limited when I watch him play. I'd much rather take a chance on Semenyo than him.
He also has Salah-esque efficiency though - not the most easy on the eye, but makes the most of his opportunities. Semenyo is a bit opposite - looks better than his output. Both can be valuable.

Based on the combination of stats and eye test assesment of importance to their respective teams (i.e. Saka who is key to Arsenal’s play) and with a bonus for players managing to play well in underperforming teams (i.e. Kulusevski), here’s my list:

1. Salah - soaring above the competition
2. Saka - season curtailed by injury
3. Gakpo - superbly efficient and consistent
4. Diaz - I still think it’s close between him and Cody
5. Kulusevski - stands out in a bad team
6. Gordon - his energy is key for Newcastle
7. Mbeumo - efficient with limited opportunities in a defensive team
8. Son - aging, but still a great player on his day
9. Semenyo - a key creative player for Bournemouth
10. Diallo - impressive, given how shit United are

Bowen and Mitoma could have been top 10, but got dragged down by their teams’ struggles. Ouattara impressive, but his stats are skewed by a hat-trick scored while playing at CF. Martinelli, Doku and Madueke should be performing better given the level of talent around them.
