Are you happy with this England side Spion?

Happy with what though? We play a decent side short on our top players and we go defensive and secure a point. It's hardly the worst thing in the World, when we play the minnows or anyone else we play football and try to score goals.

There seems to be this overtly arrogant notion that we should be snotting EVERYONE. Look at the team we have. In at least 5 positions it's not good enough, Lampard and Gerrard are utilising their experience but everyone knows at club level they're someway past their best days, Rooney could more or less be put in the same bracket - injuries and distraction have diminished his impact. It's in a transitional phase really, Ferdinand and Terry are gone, Lampard and Gerrard are getting older, players like Baines, Jagielka, Walker and Cahill are trying to make a claim for a longterm spot, while on the fringe of things we have the likes of Sterling waiting to come in.

You asked if Spion is happy. The crux of our posts was that Stevie poked fun at people thinking England were going to win the World Cup, even though no one is. Hodgson isn't the best manager as we well know, but his record isn't poor either and he's been dealt a shit hand all in all by being given a side that needs rebuilding (which in fairness, he's trying to do).

As I said, for everyone on the outside looking in it's win win in the taking the piss stakes. I don't know many England fans who are overawed with our current quality, we have alot of exciting young players and alot of underperforming players who've got away with it for years. We know where we're at, there's no quick remedy, so questions like "are you happy" and "Haha look at those bellends thinking they'll win the cup" is just the same old same old from other fans, we know we're shit, but what do yer do? We've always been shit, it's only you lads who seem to try to stir up some mass ridicule of England fans everytime the internationals start, as though we're the only people around these parts who don't know we're fucking garbage.

The FIFA rankings are an on-going joke. Surely they could come up with something more representative or realistic.

I am not going to argue much about Denmark's ranking in there, about our level at the moment, but it really is beyond belief how they come up with these rankings.

For one, Belgium, whom by all means look like they've got a beast of a team in the making is placed 6th. Based on what exactly? It's been like 10 years they last participated in a big tournament hasn't it? Denmark has been pretty much ever present, yet are placed almost 20 places below.

Would love to know the logic behind it all. Oh and GREECE... surely they can't have any money in surplus for big yachts and watches so how on earth have they managed to stay that high?

Are you happy with this England side Spion?

Not in the slightest Ryan.

Greg Dyke does have some valid points in what he said but the bottom line is that the Premier League and the clubs hold too much sway.

We are a team that sits in the lower tier of the Top 20 of world football. We have good players but don't deliver as team. I have my opinions on why this is happening, but it doesn't matter what I think. The academies in this country are crawling with some of best talent. From abroad. Our clubs take advantage of rules to steal the best players from Spain, France etc.

But no one is coming to England or Britain even, to steal out best players to put in their academies. The strongest view I have is, and I'm not blaming the player here, that if Jon Flanagan is on a near £1m a year contract and he's not even in the first team, then that is a pretty fucking major issue - thats £20k a for a teenager who's not made it.

How many more English talented players on this £20k a week or more? It doesn't take much to distract players and lets face it, footballers aren't generally the sharpest tools in the box are they. Where's the incentive to perform better? To make it? Cos if he's one ounce lazy or lacking in desire or confidence, then he can stay on easy street for as long as the contract.

Look at Kyle Walker? How stupid do you have to be to a) be caught drinking before a major world cup qualifier and b) doing laughing gas? Yeah the press made a meal of it, but only because the player, by doing it, gave them the opportunity!

Playing for England is no longer the crown of a career, its just a meal ticket for more money and arrogance. Win the world cup in 2022? There's more chance of me playing for England before then!

The game in this country sold out when the Premier League came along, now the national team is reaping the benefits - and that's where we come back to Greg Dyke. One of the men who was influential in the breakaway and was encouraging it. Now he's quoting the stats about proportions of English players on the pitch!

You were part of the cause Greg, now you want to be part of the solution without actually admitting that you were part of what caused it in the first place - fucking greed!
