It neatly explains why Wenger was forced to sell Henry to Chelsea for £50m, and Vieira to Real for £30m, instead of waiting a few years and getting about half that

Oh, wait no! It totally debunks your argument for the bollocks it is.
It's not an argument. It's a Premier League rule.

Oh come on, Ross.

Rules are rules but you know as well as I do that if a manager has the full respect of his board, then he's likely to have a say in such matters.

Out of interest Bwenden, do you think "Cecil" has done well in getting a reported £5m for Insua?

HIS NAME IS CHRISTIAN. Please can everyone stop calling him Cecil. Its really annoying and shit.

Is Chris OK, or is that annoying and shit too? Dont get me wrong I dont buy into all this He's the devil bollox, I put the speech marks around it because Bwenda refers to him as Ce.....(nearly). And as for the W/R it's purely a Bwenda thing again, Im besotted.
With Insua off, El Zhar and Plessis will follow. It only took a week's training to convince Hodgson to transfer list the pair. And Itandje.
Good news, obviously.

A say, but no power.

Fergie would have always been considered to have his way at United. Does anyone really believe he decided to lose Tevez and sell Ronaldo and replace them with Owen and Valencia ?

And the other saps name is Woy

Whatever though. Its just childish and annoying.

Fulham defender Paul Konchesky has emerged as a surprise target for Liverpool.

Roy Hodgson is planning to return to his former club in a bid to lure the 28-year-old to Anfield to fill the gaping hole in the left-back position set to be left by Emilano Insua's impending departure.

The Kop boss expects the Argentina international, 21, to complete his switch to Fiorentina next week after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the two clubs earlier today.

"A deal has been struck with Fiorentina," he revealed.

"We wish him well for the rest of his career and thank him for his time spent at Liverpool.

"I am expecting him to join Fiorentina next week."

Konchesky was strongly linked with a move to Merseyside in summer 2002 during his days at Charlton Athletic but moved to West Ham United in 2005 following a brief a loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

During his two-year stint with the Hammers he reached the 2006 FA Cup final where he scored against the Reds in the pulsating clash but was denied by Pepe Reina during the penalty shoot-out.

He also featured in 10 of Fulham's Europa League outings last season including their final defeat to Atletico Madrid in Hamburg.

I quite like Konchesky. Not a bad player.
Not a good one either.

And Roy's already said he won't 'raid' Fulham.

Those are very selective (and extreme in the case of the £80m Ronaldo) examples. He obviously had a lot more say prior to the Glazers taking full control.

That's beside the point though really. Of course the final say goes to the owners, but there are many managers in the Premiership who play an integral part in deciding which players go in and out of their clubs. Usually because they have the faith of their employers, who understand that they're the best placed to make those decisions. That is, after all, why they employ them.

Does Dalglish have no say in identifying players as part of his next role in the club? I am sure he is whispering in Purslows ear about who is shit or worth a punt.

I don't think it should be solely the managers role to buy and sell players. Managers make far too many mistakes. We're in this situation now because of a string of mistakes.

We're a poorly run football club, and until we change the structure of it we will continue to be.

I hope so, and I hope they take more notice than they did when he recommended himself for the manager's job.

I don't mind Konchesky. He's an improvement on Insua, English and a proven Premier League player. He's a decent pick up for 2 mill £.

That said, we need better. But I don't mind him being 1 of the 2 left backs we bring in, as long as the other one has proven International quality.

If Kenny is now in a Director of Football role - isn't that kind of what a Director of Football does (among other things)

That's about the size of it, yeah. A left sided Danny Mills.

I'll cry if we sign Konchesky. He just isnt good enough but neither was Insua.

I appreciate that there probably isnt too much available but Rafa's big problem was buying as many players he could afford rather than getting a more limited number of higher quality players.

I'd be tempted to play kelly there with agger as back up and use the money to but the best CM and striker we can lay our hands on.

I'd rather take a chance of playing a kid who 'may' turn out to be good than signing a dud you'll only have to move on later.
