Insua definately never live up to his potential. I thought he would make the step up but he struggled.

Glad to see the back of him. Hope we get Taiwo. His quality is exactly what we need. Its a perfect match.

That's the problem with having expectations on hardly any basis at all.

People big up the potential of a young player based on a few reports and perhaps a highlight clip or two (See Nemeth, Pacheco, Spearing, Partridge, Welsh, Mellor, etc.). They berate our managers for not giving the lads a chance.
Sometimes shit happens and a youngster is thrown into the deep end (See Insua, Ngog, etc.). If they manage to hold their own in what is huge step up, they are still considered shit and harshly criticised for not living up to the self induced hype.

It's silly. Yet it keeps happening.

Because our young players aren't very good

Yet people still big them up, usually based on fuck all. It's shit though that our only youngster to come through really in the last 10 years is Warnock.

Yep, and that's fine. It's not like they were all destined to be world class and our coaches and managers fucked them up... you'd think.

Perhaps not many, but I commented because some people in this thread are rubbishing Insua when they were the ones talking him up before seeing him play.

Mama Mia - you would find that Insua's potential and expectation was based on actual performances over an extended period of time. If I was the only on who thought he could make the step up, I could accept that I'm as good a talent spotter as Rafa! ;D

Maybe that's how you base your expectations but more than a few of us actually take and interest in and watch the Reserves and U18's!

I suppose it really doesn't help when the entire team falls in the very same category?

We were pants last season for the most part!

Yay, we have Balls....Roy don't look to happy though....

Ha! I'm actually looking forward to seeing this Jonjo lad in action. For once I'm excited about the prospect of one of our youngsters.

When did we sign Nosferatu?

That's Piedro sans hair

It's a concern though. If there's an excess of bilirubin in his extremeties then the muscles won't be sufficiently oxidised.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Shelvey for us, his natural ability is in abundance. He's got good control and composure and his passing is top drawer.

Here's some good footage of Jonjo
