worst liverpool left back EVER!

Hmmmm. Dossena? Traore?

Well, we'll see how the transfer window develops and whether we could've gotten away without selling him.

Hopefully Agger is not viewed as a backup LB, but perhaps he is.
I'd rather us buy one decent left-back than two promising ones Keni.

I'm convinced Martin Kelly is a real prospect who could provide cover (along with Agger) at left back. He played almost a whole season on loan at full-back and did very well.

£5m is a great price, but it obviously depends how we spend the money afterwards. Either Taiwo or Figueroa would be a huge improvement on Insua, but we DEFINITELY need someone else on top who can cover that position - and I don't mean Agger. I still think buying a more attacking LB who can also play at LW is probably the best solution.

5m is a load of balls for a young lad with a couple of years Prem experience and Argentine international caps.
He's fat, slow and shit.

£5M is a fucking *result*
So you think the boys at the top have done a good job Brendan?

Did I ever suggest we should do something differently?

It would be better for the sake of continuinity and strengthening an already thin squad to keep Insua and add another quality LB to play as first choice.

Kelly is a player I'm a big fan of, however playing LB at Huddersfield is very different to playing LB in Liverpools first team. Maybe he's good there, I don't know.. I've only ever seen him at RB and CB.

If we simply cannot afford to buy a LB without selling Insua because other sales have to cover the costs of filling other problem areas, fair enough, what can you do. Time will tell whether that is the case or not.

dossena is debatable but traore was better than insua.

so our new LB will play 50 games a season or will we buy another? doubt it, so we're weaker even if you don't rate Insua

Nope. Traore was a walking disaster area. Insua just isn't very good
Not really.

We currently have one left back who isn't very good. If we sell him and get a new left back we will still have one left back who hopefully will be better.

We still won't have decent back up (although Agger and Carra can both play there if need be) but strictly speaking we will be stronger won't we?

Insua is still young, and I don't think we should sell him, but I have no say so....
Is that you, Woy?

Fair play to Insua for doing the best he could. He probably wouldn’t have played as much if the other 2 options weren’t fat (Dossena) or made of glass (Aurelio). He’s only a young lad and I hope he gets better at a club with less pressure.

I'd bet that in two or three years Insua will be discussed on here in the same way that Warnock is now.

The only reason that the decision to sell Warnock now seems questionable is because Benitez was incapable of buying a decent left back.

Selling Insua will never seem unwise in itself, it will merely be (if at all) because we buy someone stupid to replace him.

If by some miracle Insua becomes a great player it won't matter much anyway. I can't see him ever becoming a great player with us in the near future and it will be annoying to have to suffer him in the meantime

If I was a gambling man, I'd bet that as soon as Insua is sold. Figuero will be signed.

Seconded.

I think that is fair.
Not only that, but he never had a settled left mid in front of him, and not one that he could particularly rely on to help him out.
I think £5m is a good deal though , and put that to some more dosh for some more experience.

regards

Insua had a promising second half of a debut season, but I always had my doubts.

Last year he was fucking useless; always out of position, too slow to make up for it, and absolutely useless in attack, too.

£5M is a decent price, so let's hope his replacement will prove good enough for our club.

I'd go with that rational perspective, but I'm referring to the posters who only deal in extremese. Those who want Warnock back and call Insua shit.

Shame to see him go, I think if he was blooded properly then he could have been better, wish him loads of luck, and I will always remember that Arsenal screamer!

Good luck Emiliano lad!

I had very high hopes for Insua, but there is no doubt he had a stinker of a season last year. I still believe he's much better than that, and could still end up being a quality player.
