I'd be tempted to play kelly there with agger as back up and use the money to but the best CM and striker we can lay our hands on.

Gone off attacking fullbacks then?

not at all but I recognise the situation we find ourselves in and have changed my expectations accordingly.

The thing is, you can't see Insua earning a lot of dough at the minute and for all the 'he's shit' being thrown at him, he did look good the season before last, so he's currently decent cover who will improve and costing not much. That's why I think we should keep him. Not for the first team but because The Elite Squad isn't that deep.

Insua for Konchesky Plus £3m, DEAL.
[/quote]

Sadly, our predicament has seen this kind of response become increasingly common.

While Konchesky would be an improvement on Insua, that should not make him a legitimate target. The fact is, Insua was nowhere near good enough, so an incremental improvement on him simply leaves us with someone else who is slightly less shit. Which really shouldn't be cause for celebration.

Nope, Konchesky Isnt/Shouldnt be a Liverpool standard player, but as back up to someone else who comes in for say the yosssi money plus this 3m it would look a good deal, no?

Looking at LB, I wonder how much Glichy would cost? Looks like Wenger is willing to trade Melo for him.

"Glichy" is a terrible defender. He is no cashley....

That's lazy journalism.

Insua leaves -> No Liverpool leftback.

Hodgson from Fulham -> Konchesky is Fulham's left back.

Hence 2+2=5798274278472.

Exactly. He already said he wont be buying Fulham players, in fact I think he agreed that with yer man Al Fayed.

Insua was a massive liability and we can only improve on him. Well, unless we get Konchesky that is!

Insua hasn't left, here are pics from today's training session. Wonder if the deal has fell through.

That could be Aguero for all we know.

Nah you can spot that arse from a mile away.

Liverpool.no reported yesterday that we expect the deal to go through in the next few days. Strange that in hasn't been agreed, the fee and personal terms are in the bag.

Reported in goal.com, but the source is Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Emiliano Insua's transfer from Liverpool to Fiorentina to be finalised today - report
23 Jul 2010 09:38:00

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Emiliano Insua's transfer from Liverpool to Fiorentina will be made official in Florence shortly. The deal between the clubs is already in place and the delay is in concluding the player's premiums and bonuses.

Violanews have stated that the £4.2 million (€5m) switch for the Argentina international could be concluded at any hour.

In the meantime Fiorentina's sporting director, Pantaleo Corvino, is still awaiting an acceptable offer for talented midfielder Juan Vargas. The Peruvian has been linked with a number of clubs in Italy and abroad but for now he will stay put, as Corvino takes a break to relax with his family.

Good fee considering his very poor form last season.

The Wigan LB will probably arrive in his place.

Insua move hits problems

Liverpool confirmed they had reached an agreement with Fiorentina over the fee for Insua, but it appears the player would have to take a pay-cut if he is to leave Anfield.

"We have an agreement with the English club, but we have to find an understanding with the player in terms of wages," he told Quotidianopuglia.it. "We cannot guarantee him the figures that he gets at Liverpool."

Liverpool have reportedly been looking to sign Mexico defender Carlos Salcido from PSV Eindhoven to replace Insua at left back.

Its on ice at the moment....the little shit is demanding too much money!

I've heard 40-50k a week which is absurd!

Apperantly Danny Wilson has got his old squad number, so he's off sooner rather than later.

Calcido would be nice for LB. He really stood out in the world cup and the majority of the site was raving about him in various threads.

I'd be shocked if Figeuora (sp?) didn't come though.

There's an article today saying that the deal is now becoming difficult as they can not agree to pay the same wages (40K) as Insua was getting at Liverpool. Deal not yet done.
