That's nonsense Neil. Sunderland, Charlton and now Villa have very different reasons for selling.

they needed money?

Why don't you ask the question why, bar Spurs, did the transfer fee go up every single time? Because he scored a ton of goals.
[/quote]
Exactly. The fee went down after spurs because he was a "failure", and at spurs he was once their top scorer AND had a fucking decent ratio considering his sub appearances
He's just unfashionable

The problem is though, we're looking at this from a very tight angle. We have a creative forward who doesn't score loads and we're missing alot of chances, so ergo, Darren Bent is the polar opposite, he offers not a great deal in terms of play, but he knows where the goal is and will put them away. Fair enough logic, the problem is when we have to change our style of play because Suarez isn't there or he goes or whatever. A year or two down the line you've got an average player who can score goals but is playing in a side with little cutting edge in the final third, in terms of creating out and out goalscoring opportunities.
Look at how we did again City, besides Downing's chance, we were all possession and huff and puff, it wasn't a side creating chances and failing to put them away, it was a side with a tonne of possession but no end product. The problem is we need another TOP, TOP class player in the final third, whether it be outwide or through the middle. Bent might be a logical option in the short term, but in the long haul he'd just be another average player taking big wages and not really being the match winner (ala Gerrard, Suarez, Torres) that we need.

mark knows.
that's said, those players don't grow on trees. how I wish we'd spent our 35m on llorente.
