If we sign Darren Bent

I think i'll lose my mind. Drowning and Carroll were bad enough, not signing anyone inspiring this summer was too much, this will just be murder and for me a clear sign we do not have the ambition to go anywhere anytime soon. We'll end up spending the best part of 20million on Bent, sure he might do alright, but he's not top four material by a long shot. Why is this happening? Why do we keep doing this?

I just hope we don't sign him and sign some cunt with a fancy name and great youtube compilation. (not Jelavic)

I'd be happy we've identified that we can't score for shit personally

Agreed

Bent would have a far greater impact than both Carroll and Downing have produced for us so far.

He's not the man I want any more, but he's a cut above those signings.

No use identifying a problem, if you don't solve it.

Yup, if anything, its a bigger sin

Some Villa sites saying Bent's already made up his mind. Up to 21mill and them going for Zamora and/or Keane.

To be honest, I wouldn;t mind Bent for about 10m, if he had the money to go out and buy a better striker too. He'd be a decent option from the bench.

The money they'd want is just too much, and if it's more than 10m then I'd want us to stay clear.

Too true, but how many times have we cried out for a certain position, only to see a player bought who can do a job there.

Bent is a great goalscorer. Would he be amazing for us? I doubt it. But at least we would have a parity who consistently scores

Unsure if we are really in for him, but he IS a goal every 2 games Striker, and has been for a very long time.....

If Dalglish signed Robbie Keane for money, I would actually want him out.

I doubt The Hooded Claw will let the current management team spend another 20m on another average player.

I drool when I think of Bent and Carroll up front. Carragher has to come back in to the team to supply the ammo....

RT @KopiteKorner: Mark Lawrenson has been heard on radio to say that Darren Bent is on the verge of signing for #LFC

Twitter rumour that Bent stayed in a Manchester hotel....by himself...last night. Nailed on for us then!

Oh. My. God

It's like we keep making the same mistake over and over again.

If I saw that Camolli in the street...

This is what prompted my post, reading this.

Does that fact that Bent tried and spectacularly failed at Tottenham (closest thing he's had to a "big" club) not tell the club anything. The fact that the very robbie keane that was keeping him out of there starting eleven then joined us and failed, spectacularly. It's beggars believe.

Yes a 1 in 3 ratio at spurs made him a phenomenal failure

Serious question, do you think LFC have made a point of signing a black player in January?

I really think so

Yet he was sold off after two years and could barely get a game towards the end.

1 he hasn't signed

2 If he does sign he is a 1 in 2 striker and we need one

3 After wearing KKK sheets in support of Suarez before the Fulham game, the Grand Wizard has told us to pretend we aren't a racist club and feign we are interested in Black players, its just a Smokescreen, we will only buy white....

Where midtable side, attracting players of midtable calibre.. We are not underachieving, if anything we are punching above our weight.

When is anyone here going to start realizing this.. ? ? ?

We will only start attracting players of a higher quality once we get back into the top 4 or pay the wages to a man city type standard...

Bent scores goals and is premiership proven, as we don't have anyone in the squad with that ability at present, he is probably about the best of what we can attract in that department right now..

20 mill is steep, but given the fact he won't be on silly wages the fee will balance itself out in the long term.

If Kuyt is going for the reported 10 million, they go for it.. is all I can say...
