I cant wait to tell my Grandkids how we beat someone 8-0, qualified for the CL every season for 5 years, and beat a couple of good teams 4-0 and 4-1...........

Now recounting Istanbul is something I will look forward to, and I hope I get the chance to talk about championship winning teams too. But most of what is written above will be forgotten within the next generation.

The record 8-0 won't be if its still standing, Arse came close last week but no coconut, #5 will never be forgotten.

Is that guaranteed?

Apparently, some fatty said that, got it wrong and got fired. I'm not making that mistake.

It's early ENOUGH to turn it around, to make the top 4. THANK GOD. I believe we have the players, bar a striker or two. But this manager won't do it. Quite simply, he's not a winner.

Oh yes, ny, I agree.

Far better to have an avuncular, geriatric nobody who gets on with the likes of that fucking whisky-faced cunt than anyone who has ever won a trophy

The Dark Side?

Terrier is a dreadful poster, as any fule kno.

He tries very hard to be a bit like me, but it's like reading someone with a fucking lobotomy and a tiny vocabulary reciting Shakespeare

Haha...oh Brendung, you do make me laugh, even if it's for pity.

He doesn't have the personality of a leader, or a winner to be nothing but crude, and once that negativity starts, it's impossible to turn it around. I'd sooner see us go down in flames under Kenny (which has some great karma associated with it), than continue with something that's clearly NOT going to work.

The 8-0 isn't really a record, it's a sky generation record.
[/quote]

It is in the Champions League format, although I did see us beat Stromstogat (or something) 11 -0 in the 70's in a European Match, and I got home in time to see the news and the newcaster said 'we will just check if thats a printing error' which made my night 🙂

God I wouldn't mind going down in Flames with Keegan, if it meant we went and played attacking football!

Does the 8-0 only refer to life after the CL started in 1992, or are we remembering the scores from the European Champions Cup prior to that? I am certain there have been bigger scores in the European Cup.

He certainly comes across as too much of a pushover, which is never a good trait when dealing with players.

How many successful leaders were softies?

You've got to have that killer instinct, that edge to succeed.

Ferguson, Maureen, Hodgson.

Spot the difference.

Absolutely. The results are already in. Some of the wiser posters on the boards in the summer said give him time. Well, we've given him as much time as we can afford - if he had us playing well, it'd be ok, but the United game was a joke bar seven crazy minutes.. The season is a write off if he's not gone soon. It's not working, and it's too much of a gamble to give him 10 more games. We can't afford it.

So basically, if we can find a new Hitler or Stalin we'll win the league?

Did they kill that yugoslav chap yet? If not I guess he'll be looking for work.

Was RAFA this bad in the first few games of his first season?

Rafa had 3 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw at this point - 10 points. Not much difference. Did those games look as bad? Can't remember!

For whatever it's worth, just read in the times that hodgson was shite for his first 14 games at fulham then picked it up.

On 28 December 2007, in a surprise appointment,[20] Hodgson accepted the manager's post at struggling Premier League side Fulham, with his contract beginning on 30 December 2007.[21] He initially endured a run of very poor results with the club, including being knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties after two draws against League One side Bristol Rovers. Looking to be certainties for relegation to the Championship, Fulham picked up just nine points from Hodgson's first thirteen league games. However, a run of twelve points from the last five games of the season, including a 3–2 win over Manchester City when the club was 2–0 down with twenty minutes remaining, secured the Cottagers' survival on the final day of the season.[22]

Who looked at his CV with this on and thought 'Thats the man for Liverpool FC, sorry Kenny'?

in Fairness, he took a mid table team to a UEFA Final, and a decent showing the league.

Unfortunately for us, he doesn't have it in him to do any better.

It was a fair punt, but a lot of the Roy-a-thisers, said after last week "We've five straight forward games coming up...he's had a rough start, let's see how he does?". How many more games?

If we get taken over, I think it is highly likely Roy will get the bullet. Nice guy, never a Liverpool manager. I don't think we should have appointed Kenny (though in a straight choice I'd have him over Hodgson), and there is no doubting the fixture list has been unkind to him, but he's going to go down with the record of the worst and perhaps shortest tenure in LFCs history since Shanks. I don't think there can be any doubt about that.

It's not so much a mistake by the club in appointing Hodgson, but a massive mistake by Hodgson in accepting the appointment.

He can't have realised how badly Rafa had run down our squad.

With our current player resources, mid-table mediocrity will be something of an achievement by Roy. Whether he plays 4-4-2, Christmas Tree, or 10 at the back, he can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

They're just not good enough.

Toothless performance.

We didn't work hard, play well or do jst about anything - fuckinh gash!

I don't get the hysteria on the boards at the minute and I'm confident things will improve.

I hope to see Hodgson here in two to three years time because it means we're doing well. All this sacking talk, for the time being at least, is nonsense.

Even though we had virtually our starting 11 (CB?) out we struggled with Sunderland, that alone is a huge worry, Kuyt and Johnson were utter garbage throughout. Im for a long time genuinely massively worried for my beloved team.

Oh Dear.
