Definitely. This place has been annoying as fuck of late.
I've always thought you guys should accept donations even when things were running smoothly. Now it's not you should grab the money and improve the site. It's small change to anyone, especially given the enjoyment everyone gets from the place

Yeah, having smooth and rapid access to 6CM is something we're all willing to contribute to.
I think Themn and Skully should be punished in some way for their miserliness though. I bet they didn't contribute to the ILD fund either.

It's annoying the fuck out of me as well you can all be assured. Especially when I'm having to repair a corrupted database table likely caused by crappy disks whilst I'm in work. Collecting the money is just one part of it, getting the time to do is equally important. There's several days work involved in this.
I'd PayPal the £3 no problem. But I'm wondering how an upgrade would improve the site (sorry if this has been mentioned - not going to read through 11 pages to find it) ? IMO it's fine as it is - it's a football forum not a photographic forum (of which I'm a member of six !) and so not graphics heavy. What improvements would there be ?

I think that problem will be solved by moving servers. Sunny would like some shiny new software at the same time it seems. I'm in if needed.

The software we have at the moment is free, it's buggy, limited & hard to update or change.
Sunny has to do this alone, so it means a lot more of his free time isn't eaten up than has to be simply by this software issue.
The servers need moving cos our current hosts are piss poor, so it would be better if we could move onto new software at the same time so sunny has more free time & we have much less problems & loads more hosting options. In a member of hundreds, literally, of forums & the vast majority have features & software that could make this site stellar, we can't have them until we upgrade the software though, & as owners we simply don't have the cash to fund that as well as pay hosting cos some of us (me included) have massive unavoidable financial constraints currently), so we're asking for a one off donation from whomever wishes to pay so you can buy the new software we want to run on the new hardware we need that we will be paying for.

It makes perfect sense Foxy. Was £3 a realistic estimation of how much you'd need from each poster who actually contributed, or was it a guesstimate to test the water?

I imagine the donations will also go towards a decent host... The current host is shocking IMHO...

As I said, the current issues are with the hosts, but when we swap hosts we'd like to be able to put new software on so we can make other improvements & save sunny a lot of time & effort.
Jules I'm not sure where the £3 comes from but I think that should be the minimum figure, if we get the expected number of £3 donations we can get the most basic, but much improved software. If people donate more we can look at the best level up & so on.
