I agree with much of the criticism from last night. Everything about it was fucking awful from the kick off.

It's impossible to overstate how difficult Hodgson's task is here, but he's got to wise up to our squad if he's going to stick around, because that was a shambles.

Lad go get your mouth washed and rinsed before someone does it for you. It's a simple fact that Roy picked the team and formation to play against Citeh and must bear the brunt of the result. 4-4-2 was brave but untested since his arrival.

Now Mascherano throwing his toys out the cot threw a spanner in the works. With 34 years of footballing experience, playing an out of sorts - not to mention concussed Agger at LB, when you have Aurelio on the bench is daft. What compounds the matter is watching Agger getting raped all night and doing nothing about it.

You see one of the reason Rafa got the boot is because of this mediocrity you mention. 7th place is unacceptable in any era for Liverpool. He reached his sell by date and couldn't get the team to win. Roy as his replacement isn't going to have the luxury of time. He has a job to do. There is no place for mediocrity at Anfield but thats what we may have to deal with until we get an investment shot in the arm.
 
Interesting comment by Hangeland on Hodgson's style of play which seem to mirror ours.

"‘Now we get at teams a bit more. We did that a bit more against United than we have done in the past against good teams, even at home. We used to concede ground earlier and let the opposition play whereas now we press high and take the game to them. I think we knew already before we changed manager that on our day we can play well against most teams and we showed that again [on Sunday]."
