rafa was a failure
old man hodgson will do well to be a failure

Loony alert.

I don't think Rafa did that bad to be honest, i don't see what else he culd do with a minimal squad, our lack of pace, or Lucas.
He didn't have to assemble a squad so thread bare, sign players with no pace, or sign Lucas. Unless you mean Roy and it's a typo?

For some reason he prefers a concussed and out of position Agger to Aurelio? That's beyond belief.

He went for it tonight and deserves some respect. He could have done the usual twat Benitez move and dropped his in form striker - Ngog - but then he would have killed his confidence.

If he didn't play Torres, he would've got trounced also.

Lose lose.

Respect to Roy for trying. Poulsen probably isn't ready.
This.

Atleast Hodgson tried something different and tried to go attack a team away from home. It didnt work but he deserves credit for trying

Of course we never tried to attack top teams away from home under Benitez... never... it was quality defending that stuck 4 past Man Ure at Old Trafford...

roy had an attacking formation but not an attacking team, there's a difference

man city had THREE CM and two wingers playing off tevez, we got outmuscled in the middle of the park (because it was three against two) and stripped on the wings because the 'wide players' drifted infield, okay, he made a mistake with the opening team and formation but did nothing about the formation ALL GAME, and did nothing about the team till the 75TH MINUTE.
to be honest I'm more numb than angry.

The style of football was so similar so im not surprised.

Incredible how people can come down on Hodgson.
How is it incredible?

It was obvious that Lucas and Gerrard as a partnership were going to be overrun, and the way the rest of the team were set up menat that they wuld never have enough midfield support.

He deserves credit for trying something that was blatantly destined to fail?

And then doing nothing about it when it didn't work?

I know you like to wear this whole "I have my own opinions" thing like a badge of pride, but it really would help if your opinions weren't full of fucking shit.

Had Roy made changes at half time, had he identified the fact that Agger was getting raped, Lucas was a passenger, Kuyt and Jovanovic were utterly lacking in any sort of meaningful contribution, our midfield was being completely overrun and Torres and Ngog up front was doing fuck all - had he identified even *one* of these things, and tried to address the situation - whether or not it worked - then he would have deserved some credit.

But he didn't, so he doesn't.

Hopefully it's a lesson learned, and not one that we will see repeated again and again, because we've had enough of that under Rafa

I think you should have said that our significant amount of attempts on goal were miserable. We actually had more attempts and attempts on target than city. I think they had 3 on target. Unfortunately each of them resulted in goals.

Roy didnt cover himself in any glory at all last night. Never mind his Plan B, his Plan A was shit.
That was the shittest and least creative midfield i think we have ever fielded.
We have a squad almost completely devoid of creativity and pace, there wasnt a single player out there capable of creating anything (Gerrard aside) whilst in the City team they had Milner and Johnson and Barry (all players we were linked to and didnt fucking buy when they were 10m, 6m and 18m respectively) we looked fucking slow, ponderous and bereft of any ideas. That was Roys ONE chance to fuck up and then realise that
A)Lucas is a fucking child and should never be playing against men.
B)Kuyt isnt a fucking midfielder.
C)Jovanovic isnt a midfielder.
D)Agger isnt a left back.
E)Torres is a loan striker.
F)If you sell Benayoun and loan out Aquilani then Cole is our only creative player.
He made myriad mistakes in his plan A and this was hightened by Mascherano being a cunt and giving us ZERO time to play in a 4-4-2 meaning it looked like it was, a bunch of players who hadnt played in this system playing out of position and a demotivated first 11 with fuck all chance of winning the game from the off.
Learn quickly roy. We have personel for one up front and two wide support players. Learn fucking quickly.
He's very fucking lucky we were playing a team with pretensions to top 4 who just spent 200m, because i dont for a second think that result would have been any diferent against say a Woves or a Stoke with that team. It was fucking shit and it cannot happen again.

For some reason he prefers a concussed and out of position Agger to Aurelio? That's beyond belief.

If we can give Rafa the cunt so many years of mediocrity, why we are so fast to blame the new manager only for two games ?

Rafa overcomplicated everything. Hodgson was supposed to re-simplify shit and give the players some level of trust in him. Last night was a fucking abortion. In fact it wasnt even an abortion it was whatever shit is left over after an abortion.
Man it pissed me off so much.
Does that show btw?

Yes. Even to the point of blaming him for claiming a win. 😉 But I understand exactly how you feel about last night.

It's bloody obvious that this setup was our Plan B.

Masher fucked up our plan A - and Roy wasn't exactly given a lot of time to rectify this situation, was he?

Behave.

We all know the reason why Rafa was given so many years. Because of the promise and the rep he came with - Twice La liga winning manager, UEFA cup winner, giving us a footballing lesson at home, blah blah blah. And Oh! the small matter of winning the champions league in his first year with us. All the European nights. And just like our previous great managers, he made an instant connection with the fans in his first year. It eroded over the years, but everybody believed in him in his first two years.

Roy Hodgson will not get the same level of leeway from the fans. It is not fair, I know. Simple reason is that he has not scaled the heights which Rafa had in 30 years of football management. Add to that his dismal away record with fulham in the previous season.

Rafa doesn't deserve to be called a cunt by the likes of you

Like Herr Oncemeister says,

if there was an award for maximum number of players played out of position in one Single game - the game against City would be up there with the best(or worst?) of all time.

Abysmal team selection and shocking lack of realization that it was not working. I thought Roy was not the type who made excuses - i thought wrong. Just because Masher refused to play, it seems he decided to sulk and switch off.

1. Lucas is out of position when he is on the pitch
2. Torres is unproven when played with a partner
3. Agger is not a LB
4. Kuyt is not a RM
5. Jovanovic is not an LM

Lucas is a fucking useless cunt. His uselessness shocks me, and the worry keeps me awake at nights.

roy's 'plan a' was shit, okay, fair enough his plans were thrown into disarray with the mascherano debacle, the scary thing was he seemed unwilling (or unable) to stem the flow of city possession.

a) he could have brought on aurelio which would have improved our possession as he is far less likely to give the ball away cheaply than others in the back line.

b) he could have brought on poulsen for no other reason than to flood the midfield and ATTEMPT to make it difficult to play through us

c) he could have brought on maxi and pushed kuyt futher forwards, MAYBE maxi could have created something and kuyt's energy could have given the city back line something to think about

d) he could have brough on babel earlier to try and inject some pace and at the very least make city's back line sit deeper

all options that could have been utilised, instead roy did...

...absolutely FUCK ALL, for 75 FUCKING MINUTES!!!

there are people that had their doubts about roy, and its folly to jump all over someone after two games but roy certainly didn't cover himself in glory, mascherano or no mascherano.
