You can't presume those players will want to join us, though.

Players good enough to successfully replace Torres, even if takes 2-3 of them, will be competed for by City, Chelsea, etc, meaning even if they did want to sign for us, we'll have to give them massive wages like Johnson. All of a sudden 100M start to look quite small.

Even at 100M, it's a big risk, especially with a manager who has a patchy transfer record. If Torres wants to stay, we should hold onto him. By no means should we force him out the club by accepting transfer bids.

I love him so much, but if they offered 100m pounds, with his injury record we would be stupid not to take it. However, i don't think he would want to go to Man City anyway, so it's a moot point really.

Every player has their price, Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldo for enough money anybody can be bought. For the same fee as Ronaldo it would be impossible to turn down, for £20m more there is no chance the owners would say no. What that says about the club as a whole is another matter. I love Torres, hes one of the few players in the world Im excited to watch every time he plays but the reality of it is that his injury record is poor and £100m is way above his market value. What Rafa and the owners would do with the money God only knows, that said for £100m if it materialises could be the difference between this club going to the wall and surviving

Yeah, ace. Our debt would only be £150m, and I'm sure we'd compete for a Europa League spot on a fairly consistent basis.

The bit in the story where Rafa has said he'll walk if Torres is sold - its hardly the greatest threat. Maybe he should threaten to stay!

I don't think Torres would want to go to City and if we accepted a bid and tried to force him there, we might end up having to sell him to another club for far less.

Torres is ours.
