When I think about it logically, Oncy's suggestion of selling Nando and buying 3 or 4 world class players for the starting XI is a good one when you stack it up against Torres' injury record. But the thought of having to watch Torres being unveiled in a City shirt would make me blubber like a little bitch.

You can't presume those players will want to join us, though.
Players good enough to successfully replace Torres, even if takes 2-3 of them, will be competed for by City, Chelsea, etc, meaning even if they did want to sign for us, we'll have to give them massive wages like Johnson. All of a sudden 100M start to look quite small.
Even at 100M, it's a big risk, especially with a manager who has a patchy transfer record. If Torres wants to stay, we should hold onto him. By no means should we force him out the club by accepting transfer bids.
