Fair point as far as that goes, but is it having the necessary effect? We've probably all played with teammates who were plenty vocal but didn't really carry the respect that needed to go with it for them to be taken seriously. I'm not saying I think that applies to Hendo, but we've looked so rudderless at times recently that the question has to be asked IMO.

Good question, imo the respect depends largely on how he plays.

He'll need to play very well himself, the example is probably more important than the voice.
 
Great news. He's a cracking player and looks to be getting better all the time.

Skrtel, Lucas and Sterling next please.
 
Hopefully now he's got this contract distraction out of the way, he'll go back to gamboling again. There's been a conspicuous lack of skipping from him lately, and I totally blame that for our recent poor results.

The fact that players tend to jump when he tells them to (and as I say, respected his commands before he was captain) means he certainly isn't just some shouty idiot, and his peers don't perceive him as such.

In terms of being rudderless, you just can't put that down to a captain. There is only so much a captain can do in a dysfunctional team.
