Headers of the ball

Liverpool Carrol is player A. Newcastle Carroll was player C.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the ultimate Player G (regardless of his non premier league status)

Unless I missed it Big Dunc wasn't in that list and he'd be one of the best headers I've ever seen. He should be G for all the rest to emulate. Mad as a hatter but sublime in the air.

Sami was also a great header.

Garcia would be a quintessential type E player.

Garcia wasn't good at jumping, he was good at knowing where to be and having perfect technique.

How on earth Kuyt is on that list I don't know.

I think his jumping was pretty good though, admittedly, it was his technique which really made the difference.

Kuyt is very good at winning aerial duels. He's a bit like Lucas in a way, they are both capable of winning their fair share of aerial battles but seem to fall short at times when heading goalwards.

Tim Cahill is pretty good. As is Christiano Ronaldo. Gerrard and Torres are pretty decent at it. Kewell was pretty good too, but the best i have ever seen is Hyypia...

Was he shorter when he played for Newcastle? 🙂

If he is tall, he can't be a C. I frankly cannot decide whether he is a D, or simply a lazy and out-of-form G 🙂 I just re-watched all of Andy's PL goals for Newcastle Andy Carroll premier league goals so far!Liverpool main guy to lift EPL title next season! , he scored 11 in 18 before we snapped him up, 5 of those were headers. He also had at least 2 or 3 assists with his head. All good headers, I think he can jump, he is not a Crouch type. Header technique and positioning remain a question mark however.

Yeah, plenty of small players are like that, Tim Cahill for example.

I think carroll is 'g'. fantastic all round technique. the technique to get his header off v arsenal was amazing especially when he had to hold off an arsenal player to get the header in. brilliant header of the ball.

Why is it that Andy Carroll actually looks slower now?
does look like carroll has a yard of pace in the n'castle vid.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Definitely looks faster than now.

For the hundredth time, carroll is slower cos the club have been hammering him in the gym. Long term he'll look fitter than that & faster too.

As for the topic at hand, or head, Owen was massively underrated at heading the ball. The lad had spring heeled boots, I'm convinced of it.

Yeah, that, that and all the booze he drinks.

Wasn't Morientes aces at heading the ball before he joined us.
Bierhoff and Batistuta were G's as far as I remember.
Yup, definitely.

Bierhoff was stonkingly good. I was at a Norniron / Germany game where he battered us.

Just one? We seemed to play Germany every other week back in the day

Yeah, but strangely, we tended to win against them. This game we lost 0-3, and I think Bierhoff may have scored the lot.
