Lads, what a win today, and we are undoubtedly top of the league on merit, but we really rode our luck today, so I am feeling exuberant but realistic.

I know you always need a rub of the green, but today

- Sakho committed a penalty some referees might give easily
- Mignolet passed the ball to a city player who just couldn't control it
- Skrtel gave away another penalty by probable accidental handball, and it was more arm to ball...
- DeSilva missed a peach (as did we x 3)
- Kompany was the cause of two goals and set us up for the winner.
- Toure went off (bigger deal than Studger at end)

Now we also missed chances, and got hendo sent off...but I am thinking we won't get his amount of luck again. It was a little alarming how much we rode our luck, and how city carved us open so easily when we needed to. I really was impressed,

That being said We of course haven't relied on luck that much this season.

On the positive side, Gerrard is now off the hook for his yellow card.

Hendo is out but this happens. All eyes to Norwich but we all know we can't drop any points to the defensive one when the day comes. We won't get this lucky again.

Have to say I disagree. With better finishing and thinking in the top Third, we could have been four up by half time. Their second goal was a freak and we were unlucky with it. They have the best squad in the league and we beat them fair and square.

We rode our luck in that second half, but hey ho, that shit happens when you are going to win the league. Home support, worldwide audience, and such a big game meant that the ref didn't want to make too many controversial decisions. Just let the game go. Shame he Booked Suarez so early as he left nowhere to go with him. Got out of jail big time.

All title winning sides have massive luck at certain times, but 99% of people forget all about it as soon as the trophy gets displayed.

Yeah, I'm fucked if I'm going to feel guilty, or even concerned. They had the most outrageous offside decision of the season in their favour at the Etihad against us - until they played So'ton last week, anyway - plus we overall should have won that game.

So maybe we were a bit lucky to win today, but they were a bit lucky to win at their. Big fucking deal.

Top teams press more, probe more, try more imaginative things and create more chances. That makes opposing teams panic more, hurry more and fear more. That leads to mistakes. People call that luck, but it's the profit to be had from shrewd speculation.

Yeah. As much as I hate to admit it, this is the explanation behind a lot of Utd's "luck" over the years (that and a generous helping from the FA and refs).

We play a lot like Utd used to - go out looking to score lots of goals, commit lots of men to attack, loaded up with pace and frightening on the counter attack.

Pellegrini is class

Pellegrini, meanwhile, chose not to criticise the referee despite having good reason to. "I don't want to say we lost the game because of the referee,” he said. The Chilean continued after the game with a measure of defiance. "It's not the end of the Premier League. But if they win 14 games in a row, maybe they deserve to win the title."

Having Luck is a part of life. We were brave from the start of that game and deserved the win on our first half showing. They deserved to draw on their endeavours in the early part of the second half but the later of that half I would say that it was like two boxers throwing punches until one gets knocked out. Today was like a boxing match - for the 37 minutes we were beating the shit out of them and then they had 30 minutes of knocking us around. Then it was blow for blow until we did the killer punch, and we lost a man.

This. The way to shrug off the jibes from cynical, bitter, sour losers is to acknowledge that being lucky is a fantastic attribute to have, and it sucks to not have that.

This indeed.

Luck went both ways, penalty claims went against both teams and we had the better chances and should have put them away by HT. We deserved the win and there was no luck about it.

If you want discuss luck then think about Chelsea still being in this after playing against 10 men for near 80 mins and still only just scraping a 1-0 win.

Cliche, but good teams make their own luck and fortune favours the brave and all that.

I thought Suarez was fortunate not to get sent off though. Who knows what would have happened if Dowd refereed the match,

Yep. Looks like we finally managed to sign a good ref. 😉

Seriously speaking, of course we had lady luck on our side at times, as did they, and as does every team. We were lucky last week to get that penalty when things didn'nt look very promising.
However we could have easily been 4:0 up by the time we scored our 2nd, had Sturridge's and Gerrard's balls gone in.
So luck is an integral part of a football game. Good teams seem to enjoy more of it.

We are definitely riding our luck this season, and were definitely unlucky last season.

It's about time luck went our way a little, but as others have said, we've put ourselves in a position to get lucky. I imagine next season we mightn't be as lucky. It's a good thing the league is in the bag already.

We are where we are because we are better. Survival of the fittest. Dog eat dog.

Stop being apologetic. Accept it.

We were robbed at the Ethihad. Swings and roundabouts and karma and all that sort of shit.

Not feeling the slightest bit guilty.

Pelligrini showed a lot of class in his interview afterwards. Also, the way he stood by the tunnel and shook all our players hands. I wouldn't begrudge him a title or two.. in Spain.. or Italy.. after he's sacked from Man City, hopefully. He's a top manager.

As for luck.. well, i'd rather be lucky than good. We deserved it, considering the game at the Etihad. Also, we should have been out of sight by half time. It's only because we didn't take our chances that they came back at us, as all good sides do. Funny, because when level, they didn't their chances and we then punished them.

Sahko's tackle was reckless, but the ref saw it and didn't give it so I wouldn't consider it lucky. Skrtel on the other hand (excuse the pun), was a very, very, very lucky boy. He almost undid all his good work across the season, with one very stupid decision. We would be cursing him till kingdom come if he had cost us the game at the end there. We were very lucky there.

He waited for about fourteen hours with celebrating fans behind him, on his own, for Stevie to leave the pitch to shake his hand too. Class act.

He's a classy manager. As for the luck I'm not saying we should apologize for it, but I don't want to go into other matches thinking we're going to be as lucky. But yes, fortune does favor the brave.

We have had our fair share of shite luck, while United have got away with murder for years, Chelsea too. So fuck'em.

Suarez almost wants it to much, its a wild ride with him especially in the high pressure games like that.
