Glenjo injured.........

It's not like he's been playing well. We'll be stronger in that position with Flanagan or Kelly. Johnson in top form, of course, would be different, but he's been poor for months.

Do we now retrospectively analyse his crap performances in light of the fact he has been carrying injuries? Honest question. He has no doubt been awful but do we see it in a new light?

Didn't see that on this page sorry.

Although I think losing our best fullback and the impact that will have is worthy of its own thread.

Maybe Gerrard to right back.

Don't apologise for starting a thread.

News needs to be posted properly in a thread on its own so people see it. We're not keeping neat files on players, it's a discussion forum.

Anyway I think we need to look at whether our fullback injuries are a product of the demands we place on them.

We have to don't we ?

"Glen has played a lot of the season having been injured and really put himself out for the team but unfortunately he's struggled a lot," Rodgers said. "The timeline he'll be out will be indefinitely. We'll just need to assess that and see how quickly he comes through that."

"He's had a real bad ankle for a period of time and one or two other issues that haven't allowed him to be 100 per cent.

"Everyone has seen over many years the speed, fluency and how good he's been but for part of this season he's been restricted and that's obviously been difficult for him.

"But he's put himself out for the team to train and to play and it's now at that point where we need to get him right."

This begs the question of how long it will take Kelly to be back where he was in terms of physical and mental fitness. I would presume that, given Johnson's injury problems this season, we wouldn't have played him in anywhere near the amount of games had Kelly been a viable alternative.

When Enrique is back I'm guessing Flanno will be played in his natural right back position. Lets hope Kelly can step while Enrique is out injured.

Kelly is a better defender than GlenJo and better in the air. Hopefully this will be a good thing. Please let him have a good game vs Bournemouth.

Kelly made a real psychological breakthrough with his last game. He finally seemed to believe he was 'back' after all the injury niggles. So we've got two young, hungry and energetic right backs there, which is, if anything, a bit better than a very under-par senior right back. Lucas' position is much more of a concern.

With Johnson's current run of shit form, I'd much rather give Kelly a chance. Or Flannagan. Either or.

We seem to be getting into a habit of playing injured players, Sturridge being the main example before now, Johnson had 2/3 injuries? what the fuck were we doing playing him then? not having cover is no excuse to playing a player who is injured.

Cudos to Magic for not moaning about this injuries during a world cup year and trying to get on with it. If we had a decent squad he would have been rested

And if he is getting pissed off - it's understandable.

We're hard balling him on a contract renewal (as we should be) but at the same time asking him to play through injuries that put his World Cup place and earning prospects in future in jeopardy.

He deserves credit for that

indeed, instead the usual lot go on about him as though he is Itandje mark II.

It's very strange to see some of the hate towards him, he's a player woefully out of form but seems to have some resorting to abuse worse than others and seems to be singled out for abuse more so than other players I can remember in the team.
