I rate him, as we anyone who's seen him regularly for Portsmouth this year.
£9M is a fair price for a promising attacking full-back who can also offer excellent cover for Kuyt's position
Those who put forward Michah Richards over Johnson, how much football have you watched this year? Seriously?

Micah Richards can cover as a center back, so it is not an entirely ridiculous suggestion as you claim.
[/quote]But is average in both positions. Johnson is a class fb.

Class is really pushing it oncey. He is a very good English right back. The key word is English. We can find quite a few who are as good as he is. I'm not even convinced he is so much better than Arbeloa. But as we are clearly looking for English players who can hold on to first team positions and not just make up the numbers, he is a decent option. But the same applies to Micah Richards.
Micah has had a bad year, but he has the attributes and talent to be just as effective as Johnson, who has also had equally bad or terrible years in the past and is older than Micah. I think it is still within his reach to pip Glen Johnson to the English RB position for this world cup.
My point is that i won't be overly fuzzed with who we sign...Johnson or Micah, both players can be good addition to the esquaad. I'm rooting for Micah because we can kill two birds with one stone for our defense and focus elsewhere.
The pressing need however would be to find that wide player who is the missing piece.
