Jim White is an absolute dick. SSN are now proclaiming that the fee is 18 million, when it could be anything but.

Eh? Calm down.. the guy's reading off a fcuking autocue.. what do you expect him to say?
Sounds like you who needs to calm down. Since when did you give a shit about my views on Jim fucking white, who is an absolute cock.

We were never going to spend money we didn't have.

Especially with Portsmouth being financially fucked for the last few years.. but whatevezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You're quite right.. I don't.. but I've worked at Skysports (still do freelancing) and it's needless criticism.

Rumour has it he wants to join us, that will hopefully be enough. He doesnt want to rejoin Chelsea. And City, well take away the extra 20-30k a week and they offer fuck all.
What annoys me though, is the need to bid 5 mill more than other clubs, when that isnt neccacary.

Johnson has always struck me has a bit of a savern bling merchant. Can't see him choosing us if there's interest from down sarf.

Money talks.. and he seems the sort of player that listens. I'd be very surprised if he came to us.

Any corporation owned by that slug Murdoch which hires Richard Keys and Jim White deserves endless criticism. I'm sure you'll surive the trauma.

As much as I hate sky, isn't Jim white one of the better ones?

That fucking wannabe cunt with his phone will be back on deadline day. Cunt.

They're all horrible cunts. I think Sky churn them out in a factory somewhere.

Didn't just sign a new contract in january? Rumours of 15 million release clause could well be true. If thats the case then its good piece of business by portsmouth.

'my sources tell me that Mark Hughes has made a huge statement of intent by bidding £36 million for... Lee Cattermole'

'Meanwhile, sources outside the Chelsea hotel tell me that England captain, John Terry, will, sky sports believe, treat his mother to a cruise on Abramovich's £350m yacht'

Quiffing, but....

Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has told Sky Sports News that the club have received a bid for Glen Johnson and that a deal could be concluded imminently.

The England international has enjoyed the best season of his career to date in starring for Portsmouth and in the process has established himself as Fabio Capello's first choice at right-back.

Former club Chelsea, who Johnson left to join Portsmouth, have been credited with making a bid, as have Manchester City and Liverpool, who in some reports are thought to be the front-runners for his signature.

Storrie admits he will not block the player from joining a club that will enable him to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

He told Sky Sports News: "Glen has had a fantastic season for us and I think he is the best right-back in the country at the moment.

"I've know Glen a long while, from my West Ham days. When I re-signed him (at Portsmouth) we talked things over.

Massive deal

"He said, 'If one of the big four come in with Champions League football, would you stand in my way?'

"I told him I couldn't do that. Providing the deal is right for Portsmouth and Glen then we will look to try and do something in the right way.

"It is very hard to try and hold people back when they have a chance to play in the Champions League. I accept that."

When asked if an offer of between £15million and £18million had been tabled, Storrie replied: "You may not be a million miles away from the mark."

Storrie went on to concede that a deal could be struck imminently, adding: "I wouldn't think it would be too long."

I really hope it is us. Not because i really really rate him. I think he is a good fullback, and possibly an improvement on Arbeloa.

But the mood in this forum lately has been terrible. Some people are on the verge of committing suicide....signing this sucker would be a welcome good news.

Surely Portsmouth would be happy with Dossena, Lucas, Voronin or someone of that ilk in part ex.
Give em Voronin and 3m (if they owe us 7m as hinted at).

Can't be us then. Oh, Rick has left hasn't he.

While the Daily Mail report “Rafa Benitez will step up his efforts to finance a deal for Glen Johnson over the weekend and hopes to unveil the England right back as his first summer signing in the next few days.â€

They report the financial side being the main stumbling block for Benitez but that around £7m outstanding from the sale of Peter Crouch last summer may be used to top up the fee and bring it to around £17m.

£17m!!

There's rumours elsewhere that he has a 15 million release clause.

I've got one of those.
Luckily Est and Ynwa cant afford to trigger it.

Would love for him to become our new RB, attacks really well and although there was some question marks over his defensive capablities earlier on in his career, he's got better and better.

How many attacking fullbacks can defend nowadays anyway?

Well, if its all about CL footie, City are out of question. Either us or Chelski. Will he go back to the Bridge? He said he discovered the love for football again when he left, then he must be daft to go back. No insider iinfo?

I think we're in here. Good times.

I went to the England game midweek and I must say having watched Johnson up close he is exactly what we need big strong and can attack well. He impressed me a lot, then again it was Andorra!

As Hansern said, I just can't see him wanting to go back to Chelsea, particularly not when he knows he needs guaranteed first team football with the World Cup next year. If we've tabled the bid that we're rumoured to have, then I'd say he's as good as ours.

Makes sense Arbeloa out Johnson in... I would like to hang on to both... but some how I just cant see it... Arbeloa will want first team football...

Madrid seems a good option and may be that wee too bit tempting for him... Rafa will probably gamble with degen, carragher and darby as back up
