Love this guy, gutted he never came to us I think he would have made a huge difference.

Masher and Barry now that would look better wouldn't it.

Was not getting Barry a massive turning point in Rafa's reign ?

Batty hasn't played as well for City as he did for Villa - I think because Mark Hughes mistakenly thinks he is a holding midfielder.

I think the Barry incident may indeed have been a turning point for Rafa - not so much because he failed to sign him, but because it made up Xavi Alonso's mind that he was going to leave when the right opportunity came along.

Of course Masher and Barry would look good. It's not Masher and Lucas for a start.

Gareth Barry is a very good player indeed and one of the best CMs in the Premiership. But then so was Alonso.

However the where/why/if/but regarding why Barry doesn't play for Liverpool is pointless now

Really, who gives a fuck ? He's a money hungry lantern jawed cunt who plays elsewhere.

It seems a strange time for this thread considering he got owned by Barry Ferguson yesterday.

Anyway, I like Barry as a player and wasn't completely adverse to swapping him for Alonso 18 months ago. 12 months down the line I think he think he would've been a decent replacement, because he's a very good footballer, but City moved very quickly at a time when Xabi was patiently waiting for a move away.

I'm confident Aquilani will prove himself the better player.

agree Ports, a double reason why the Gareth Barry saga could be remembered as a key point in Rafa's tenure

Can't agree with that.He wasn't great y'day but he's been pretty good for City thus far.

Why would he want to leave City? He's a few months into a HUGE contract that very few clubs would better for a player of his ilk. He is clearly more concerned with his bank balance as be is his medals so he'll sit on his arse and collect his wages.

What Stu said.

Apperantly Bellamy, Given, Barry and Tevez are deeply angered by the sacking of Hughes, and are all considering transfer requests.

It won't happen obvs, but its's still fun that the media can write about someone else than our downfall.

Since Newcastle have gone down a divison, there ain't much drama of the pitch left..

Wouldn't have him as a fucking gift now after the trouble his so called 'nailed on' transfer caused.

He would probably ended up playing LB / LM in place of Aurelio or Insua. I think hes a tidy player and would of been a vast improvement.

Im sure part of the reason players like Bellamy are up in arms about the Hughes sacking is because they know its only a matter of time before they get squeezed out too.

I imagine the likes of Barry, Bellamy, Ireland and Santa Cruz will be surplus to requirements and replaced by big name superstars during the next 12 months.

They are all quality players so I woulnt mind picking the bones. Since its christmas id put in a bid for Santa.

Bellamy has worked hard and has been their best/most consistent attacking player this season so far, I can imagine him being pissed off if he gets benched now because a new manager has arrived.
