we are defending deep with the reintroduction of carra, skrtel has moved over to the left to accomadate carra. gerrard is playing deeper since the injury of lucas and we haven't controlled the midfield since he has been playing there. we are making the system fit the players not the other way around and we are all over the place as a result. the difference when agger came on was stark, you could put some of that down to villa backing off to protect the lead but we definately pushed higher when agger was on the pitch.
 
You know and I know, that money and playing the CL is vital for a title challenging team in order A - generate money, B - attract top players, C - Keep them in the club.

How many different champions were there between 63-73?
The game isn't what it was 40-50 years ago.

anyway even if chelsea were all over the place using those tactics to my mind they are the exception rather than rule. 'well, it didn't work for chelsea so it's obviously a bullshit tactic'. barca do and are kings of europe, atletico do it and tore manu (the champion elect) a new arsehole.
 
Do I have to explain that the tactics should suit the players at the club ?

Barca could beat anybody no matter what tactics Pep uses, and he has changed them regularly in the league.

maybe the game has changed but for me the prinicples are still the same and I'm sure if you were to look at all the leagues in world football you would see that clubs that have more consistancy with their managers have more success than clubs with a chop and change mentality. how is that mentality working out for real madrid?

the players should fit the tactics not the other way round, going by what you say why bother having a director of football, the manager may as well purchase the players.

Yeah let's decided what tactics we want to use then sell all 22 players we have that don't suit the tactics and buy 22 new ones.

yeah, pretty much but at least you know that you will heading in the direction you want go and will never buy players that don't fit into the footballing model you want to build. it's a very long term plan but at least it isn't a plan you'll have to tear up every year or every five years depending on how long you give your manager.

nope, I'm talking about pass and move. something that used to be synonymous with LFC. I will however conceed that pressing high up the pitch and in numbers is something I envy in barca but I saw rafa do it first with valencia when they gave us a footballing lesson at anfield.
