Keeper

This is the list. It has always been the list.

DM - sorted
AM - Fekir?

The rest is vital, also.

I’m thinking purely first 11 Bren, I know the rest is vital but our fucking first 11 Brendan.

It would be UNREAL.

Well there’s no point in getting into an argument with the sociopath - he’s incapable of admitting he’s wrong over anything and genuinely doesn’t care about anyone’s opinion other than his own.

Give him a little poke every know and then so he can feel all superior and absorbed with his own self importance - stops him from getting overly grumpy.

It's hard to comment too much if you don't know how good he is, and given the last two "big" signings we made (ie £35m plus) turned out pretty, pretty good, then maybe we're just hoping this fella is boss, too.

It's more that £44 million isn't actually that big a deal nowadays. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago that this would have shattered our transfer record. Fees have gone crazy in the last few years.

Our team is really taking shape and we have so many potentially great players who want to stay here for years and years:

VVD
TAA
Gomez
Robbo
Fabinho
Keita
Hendo
Oxlade
Bobby F
Mane
Mo

The number of fighters is growing. Add depth at CB & attack whilst bringing in a new #1 and i think we’re all done.

Amid all this excitement, what's the consensus about Henderson?

With Can gone, there was an obvious need for more midfield quality, and we've all been loudly talking about the need for a DM, but really, that is where Can and Henderson have been playing, especially Henderson.

So Keita is coming too, does this mean Fabinho is going to replace Hendo?

Certainly, as much as I like aspects of what the tireless triumvirate of (three from) Hendo/ Milner/ Can/ Wijnaldum, there's certainly a lack of pace, and game-changing ability (and goals)

So with Fabinho in the midfield, is that with Hendo, or might we see a brand new CM trio, with possibly even Fekir or similar playing in front of Keita and Fabs?

Look I know Karius was shit in the Final and all that, but do we really want to play VVD in goal?

Even more so given the only other recognised CB in that lineup is Gomez

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fabinho play deepest with Hendo & Keita ahead of him, especially in the time we are waiting for Oxlade to return from injury.

Henderson wouldn't make the starting 11 of any of the other top 6 teams, and he shouldn't be making ours. He's a bit like Drinkwater at Chelsea or something - propping up your english quota numbers and a decent sub option, but that's about it. When you looked and Madrid's central midfield and ours, there was a gulf in class and it was obvious. The club wants to be winning the champions league and aspires to bigger things, and it's far more likely to happen with better players so the Henderson/Wijnaldum/Milnet need to be bench options I'm afraid.

Not really. What would you expect him to say. He can only play one position?

ALL players can play in any position. Their best however is usually the one they play in most often, unless needs demand.

Watch the clips. If you dont think hes a DM then fair enough. I reserve the right to think youre fucking blind.

I didn't say he's not a DM, i'm just saying if you are expecting him to come in this side and play like Matic, Dier, Makelele or whoever then you'll be disappointed.

But we play like that anyway. I sort of get your reasoning, but he will cover the fullbacks, just as our central midfielders have done (particularly Milner), though like you say, he will also be given license to build attacks too, because he has that in his locker.

It looks like a stroke of genius in that sense, because he can not only read the game exceptionally well and put his foot in, he can also play, can ping the long or short ball AND he can score goals. That's the complete midfielder right there. On paper, him just sitting infront of VVD and another centre half, is pretty mouthwatering. Him and VVD should complement eachtother well.
Exactly, it's a superb signing.

Like I said earlier, him and VVD are in that bracket I reckon. Where you would put your big athletic, but technically able defensive players who can also drop their shoulder and play a bit. It's crucial to us building a backbone to the side. If you get the keeper part right and another attacker, we're onto a winner in terms of the first XI.
