F1 2025

Norris is definitely too mentally fragile to be a world champion. Piastri looks to have found the zone in the McLaren. The grid is a bit more mixed than I expected and for Norris to make a place or two. He’d need some luck to get to the front.

I get the vibe Norris would be equally content working for daddies hedge fund whereas if racing disappeared overnight, in no time at all, max would be walking the streets as a dishevelled mess. Still think whichever garage consistently gets their set ups rights will probably take it. If Piastri is to stand a change he needs to build a decent enough lead in the first half of the season so that Zak Brown has no chance to hold him back. If they are neck and neck, Norris will get preferable treatment. Either way, it'll take some sizable upgrades from the others to catch up. Mercedes moving ahead of Ferrari and RB is an interesting point early doors.

Given the huge money at stake, I think the race for fifth in the constructors will be the most interesting thing to watch throughout the year. Only the Sauber team looks like a tractor. The others all look capable of picking up points on a good day. Think Williams and Sainz will be frustrated with how thing have been. Haas, with a new (pretty mid) driver and a rookie, will be extremely happy with their start and seem to have built on their progress from last year.
