I can see it now. City turn up expecting Everton to roll over or at least not put up much fight. They walk out of the tunnel and glance around the stands. What's that? Evertonians everywhere, a sea of half red, half blue scarves...A chant of 'Merseyside, Merseyside', at first a murmur, soon rises into a deafening roar, ringing in the shocked ears of the City players.

Everton fight for their lives eventually running out 2-1 winners. The Everton fans skip out of the ground to be greeted by the crowd of gathering reds. Tears in their eyes the fans run to each other and embrace, brothers in arms, united in victory!

And then you woke up.

Haha good for a laugh @Mistadobalina

All the Bitters I've seen on-line said they will actually be there and be cheering for City. Bitter cunts.

Anyway I've read that Jagielka is back in the squad and I'd guess likely to start and that Distin is having a late fitness test. Physio.com is often a little late with their updates. Fingers crossed for both. Pity UEFA can't step in on Barry's behalf too 😉

It's easy to say shite like that online though. I'm sure there'll be a few dickheads there giving it that bollocks, but it won't be a majority of even close.

In 95 that Blackburn game was odd, that's for sure. You tended to find a lot of the vocal younger crowd (including myself as we were all 15) gave it all that for Blackburn in the first couple of mins then were put in our place by the older more mature & reasonable fans.

You'd be surprised how damn hard it is to want your team not to win, regardless of reason, for 90 minutes when sitting where you always sit every week cheering them on.

There's no way they don't all celebrate an Everton goal. I suspect there'll be some cheers from all sides if city score, but that will be a mix of self deprecating & genuine Liverpool hating.

If they're 1-0 down & score a last minute equaliser they'll cheer pretty much as usual.

it's a pity this isn't spain where we could send over some brown envelopes with a load of motivational cash . Although Ayre would probably fuck it and just send over a load of Subway and Dunkin donut vouchers .

The Everton players all receive win bonuses, it was reported this week.

They also all have the standard premiership contract terms that mean they receive a pay increase upon inclusion in the europa league & a higher pay raise on inclusion in the Champions League too, so that cash incentive is already there.

As Martinez said, if they were mid table with nothing to play for this talk would be slightly more understandable.

Anyone who believes the players will be thinking that they'll take a loss is deluded, the only question is whether their home crowd is against them & whether that would effect them, both of which I doubt would happen.

Hopefully they'll be a bad tackle by a City player (that hopefully no-one gets injured) or ref decision (which doesnt prejudice the score) which'll wind them all up and get the desire to beat City.

I think a major factor in this game can also be that Man Utd and Spurs have to win their games before Everton play.

Everton need another point to guarantee Europa football so if Utd and Spurs win Everton will be under pressure to win their game too. If Utd drop points however, Everton are guaranteed for Europa.

So come on Spurs and Utd!!!

Yep, & I reckon they both will win, thankfully Arsenal don't play til the Sunday so Everton may still have a shot at cl knowing they'll keep the pressure up on Arsenal by winning too.

If they can get a result against City, I doubt i'd be able to bring myself to say anything anti Neverton ever again (or at least until the next derby).

He'd probably send it to City's dressing room by mistake.
