I think they'd be terrified of us hitting them on the break (as they are of most teams that aren't completely hopeless) - they don't press anywhere near as effectively as they used to.

That said, to beat them (nevermind murder) we'd need to be very efficient with our use of the ball and I'm not convinced by our ability to do that consistently yet.

Yep, that was the bit I didn't express very well.

On our day, we'd murder any team in the world.
On another day, Aston Villa.

Yeah, sure. I know that and I agree.

My point is that Barca are just so set up for a team that is quick and pacey on the break with deadly finishers. For the first 35 minutes they dominated possession and didn't look like troubling City who had more attempts on goal. Exactly what the game plan was for Toure and company is anybody's guess but it was almost like they wanted to play possession football on the break.😱

They didn't have the speed available that we do but they still could have got at Messi and the rest if they'd wanted to. For some reason this wasn't their aim and they only really had a shot in the last 15 minutes.

We wouldn't have let Barca off like that. Even with a "possession football" style on the break, City still had Barca stretched at times in the first half. We wouldn't have waited around and I reckon that would have been a nightmare for their style of play.

I know what Spion is saying but my point is I think we'd find it harder to play against City and much harder to play against Chelsea than it would be against Barcelona.

Did anyone else think that the atmosphere or lack there of at the Etihad was embarrassingly poor throughout the match, even before the penalty and red card?

I guess money can't buy quality supporters.

City had to hurt Barca on the break and take their chances. United used this tactic against them a few years ago. Ronaldo and Rooney got at Barca on the break but didn't take their chances. Barca came at them wave after wave of attacks and got the breakthrough.

I can Bayern hurting Barca if they meet each other.

Hahaha the arsenal keeper does the wanker hand gesture before going down the tunnel
