Don't understand the negative comments about Welbeck, thought he had a good game. Ran his socks off, held the ball up well and offered a threat in behind the French defence.

Bit disappointed for Carroll not featuring but Welbeck did well tbf.

I will not say anything. Just post this picture:

I have met that guy. He is a delivery driver. We got some computer gear delivered from Siemens a few years ago and he turned up. I fucking shat myself when he opened the door but he is actually a really nice guy.

I really liked the look of that Koloplianka-whatshisname lad as Hansern has mentioned on here a few times.

Think we should buy him before someone else does.

So where do England go from here if we get through the group? Does Hodge have the capability to open us up against sides? Too many times yesterday we hoofed it when we didn't have to, though tbf, I think we'll get more space against other sides, France, despite Blanc's bullshit through the week, played quite similar in some respects to how we do, but with a better frontline and a weaker defense. We did well to limit Benzema to longrange efforts (even then he's a threat though).

I thought it was funny how Blanc insisted his two years in England would stand him in good stead, he literally said it meant he knew the game so was at an advantage. He knew the game when he played here, it didn't mean he succeeded though. What and arrogant, cretinous Manc frog eyed twat.

Anyway, if we get through we're going to need to show all of our experience and hope that our young attack isn't overawed, over worked and that they gel and can step it up. Oxlade-Chamerlain and Welbeck are both bright prospects who did well, I was also impressed that Hodge didn't throw a load of defenders on but instead went like for likes for fresh legs and pace. That's a good ploy to stick with throughout, especially when we're couterattacking so much. Another option I thought would have been to put Carroll in Young's role and Defoe ahead of him (late on), when we were under the cosh and looking for hold up play or hoofing it long, it might have been a option against their two lightweight centre backs, Defoe could have got in behind. But anyway. Good result to start with, it might not have been pretty and it might not get us all the way, but it's the toughest game out the way and we did what we had to do tactically, which is more than we can usually say about England at a major tournament.

Last night was the first time I really saw what the fuss was about Zlatan, I thought he was brilliant for lots of the game, but with the usual laziness on occasion.

Yeah he's big, strong and has great technique he just cant be arsed most of the time. Imagine a Zlatan/Dirk hybrid...

That right there would be one of the greatest footballers who ever played the game. Zlatan's skills are that good. It's a pity he has the bottle and (usually) the work ethic of a blancmange.

The team let Zlatan down yesterday. Most of them just bottled it.
England wont beat us though. Best you can hope for is a draw.

If England try to open up against a good side you'll get beat by the first decent team you come up against imo mate. Woy got it bang on yesterday and should continue in that vain, we've already seen how lesser sides can do very well in cup comps by simply defending for their lives and then hitting on the break.

I think England might actually surprise a few people in this tournamnet.

A player with a shit first touch, a tackle for a second one with a really shit attitude?

Can you imagine how shit the hair would be? Neither have great haircuts, but joining the two? Rooney might even chuckle.

England couldn't create much yesterday. Some good set pieces and that was about it. No rythm attackingwise, and a totally waste of space Parker central. I can't see they go far in this tournament.. Will they beat the swedes? Maybe. It depends more on how the swedes set up their game than what england choose to do, as I don't think they have much more than they showed yesterday. Will they beat Ukraine? Max a draw. ukraine was good for big parts of the game yesterday. Nice combinations and a lot of energy.

Milner and Chamberlain were poor. Gerrard and Johnson had a good game.

I know I'm miles late but I simply couldn't leave this comment.

I actually normally like most of your posts Hansern but the most encouraging part of the game was Chamberlain's performance. One of skill, some swagger and about the best debut we've had at a major championship since Rooney. He was good and the fact pretty much every pundit out there is saying the same hasn't changed my mind.
