I know I mentioned this already but it bears a topic of its own.

Both played 33.

Dirk - 10 goals, 6 assists
Torres - 9 goals, 5 assists.

You really can't help but love the Dirkalizer. Unfortunately I think he'll be a squad player next season.

.....and isnt shit and a crock.

Torres is going to spend the next 5 years finding out what it feels like to be Michael Owen.

I'm sure Torres will come back after a long summer all refreshed, and start banging them in again next season on loan for Valencia.

Worryingly btw Owen has played 6 times this year for the Mancs. if he gets 4 more games and they win the league he will finally get his medal.
Hopefully his hammy snaps in training.

Much like Torres and his WC medal, Owen will know he contributed very little and therefore it won't mean much to him.

Owen's medal would still be an objective fact.

Makes me want to go and stick banana skins round the floors of all the bookies in Cheshire.

This is Owen, Keni. All he gives a shit about is that he gets it and puts it in his snooker room with all his other medals for clubs he has no affinity to. He's place it around the neck of his life-sized waxwork, probably.

Let's hope the Chavs get to suffer the Torres international break horrors.

I mean it's for the best if they're expecting to catch the scum anyways.

Dirk is going to be an ace squad player to have next season. He'll play enough games anyway and can play in a number of positions. Love the Dirk. His only problem is consistency. Ace against the Mancs and Sunderland. Horrible against West Ham and Braga.

Also, Torres does look very clueless playing for the Chavs. Loved the camera zooming in on Abramovich on sunday when Torres was subbed after 68 mins. 50 mill £ - faaaaaaaack.

He'll score some goals though, no doubt about that. But I don't think he will regain the early form and class he showed for us.

dirk would be an amazing squaddie. I think he could be more of a super sub than our best ever dutchman.

AH YEAH, DIRKILIZER, YEAH !

This is what Paulie D from The Jersey Shore would say if he hung out with me for a game in the pub.

"He'll be a squad player next season"

Yeah sure, course he will.

I suppose your referring to my post? If so tell me then, if we go out and buy the players reported for the wings ie

Ashley Young
Alexis Sanchez
Eden Hazard

Where is he going to play? Especially if we were to get two of these players, I just don't see him getting into the starting eleven.

'Best eleven' happens on paper. It actually happens on the pitch about 5 times in a season that usually lasts 50 games. Injuries, suspensions, form, etc etc dictate that what everyone "ideally" wants on countless threads on this forum rarely ever happens.

Anyway, Dirk will start 90% of our games next season for reasons outlined one billion times before on this forum.

Let's see shall we?

if we get quality wingers then dirk will drop down the pecking order...

so I guess dirk will be first choice next season.

Tell you what - I can't wait to see these "quality wingers" come in and contribute more goals and assists than Dirk does.

Which one of Ronaldo or Messi are we going to be signing?

If Dirk is in the side, it's clear that we need someone on the other side with contrasting qualities.

I.e - with pace, skill and the ability to get in behind and put a decent cross in.

Dirk being in the first eleven is more than fine providing everything else is set up right.

Yup.

I want Dirk up against some stiff competition next season.

He shouldn't be guaranteed a start in the side and when he's playing poorly for weeks on end, there should be someone waiting in the wings to take his spot.

He does score a good amount of goals, but he gets more when played up front than he does on the wing and they tend to come in fits and spurts.

I think he'll always get a start in the big games because he's proven time after time that he's important and will deliver, however in other instances we might find the team overall is better off with another player.

you don't look at the big picture or the entire season as a whole. you just see some goals and some assists and think 'job done' when someone with pace and directness, while not actually getting those goals or assists may help the team over the course of a season get more points by stretching teams, creating more oppertunities which in turn makes us win more games. oh, and there is the fucking slumps that you can set your watch by.

While sweat and toil isn't solely what Dirk is about, his phenomanal workrate is a huge part of what makes Dirk such an asset to the team.
He can hardly ever be relied upon to provide the spark or a touch of genius to open up a "park the bus defense. However his tenacity and workrate will often make the time and space for the creative, flair players in the team, to do so.
Equally against the strongest teams his workrate and closing down is a huge asset to the team when our backs are up against the wall some what.
It is in both these types of games that he particularly shines. Perhaps it is from this the preception that he is a "big game" player comes from.

Where he doesn't shine is when the team is having an off day and we are lacking creativity and movement. As I said before he can be rarely called upon to be the provider of this but in my opinion, on the occasions it happens, he generates an unfair amount of criticism for not doing so.

Personally I think it will be age and fitness that eventually calls time on Dirk's Liverpool career and not a belief that he does not justify a starting place in the first eleven.

I never hide my love for Dirk. My favourite player along with Alonso of the last 5 years.

I think he will start next season too. There is a reason every manager at club and international level continues to start him. The reason is that he's a fucking good player who scores and assists goals. I've no problem with him having a rest or being subbed if he's not playing well and competition is healthy. LONG LIVE THE DIRK.

This. Squad player my arse. It makes me chuckle when people reel of the names of this fancy foreigners in shit leagues, who they feel can just take Dirks place. Different players bring different attributes to a team and I'd sooner fix the left side first.
