Anderlecht striker Dieumerci Mbokani is attracting the interest of English clubs, his agent has admitted, with sources in Belgium confirming Liverpool are making the running.

Mbokani has been in sensational form for the Belgian giants this season, leading to the Brussels-based outfit quickly forgetting the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and delighting in the understanding that the Congolese hitman has struck up with Milan Jovanovic.

The 26 year old only arrived at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium in the summer, landing from French side Monanco for a fee of €3M after the 2004 Champions League finalists were relegated from Ligue 1.

But despite only having just signed for Anderlecht for a second time - Mbokani had a brief loan spell with the club in the 2006/07 campaign - speculation over his future is rife, with England mooted as a destination.

"I never doubted him," said the player's agent Fabio Baglio to Sudpresse, following Mbokani's underwhelming time at Monaco and then loan at Wolfsburg after leaving Standard Liege in 2010.

"In Belgium, he's standing head and shoulders above the rest and he knows this, but he won't be complacent."

"People always mention his failure in France, but he ran into a coach that didn't want to consider him."

Now however, the situation has changed completely according to Baglio, with scouts from English sides keen.

"His performances in recent weeks have increased the interest from big English clubs."

"When Dieumerci is ready, he'll go abroad, but we won't make the mistake of choosing a second-class club. He will go to a top team because he was born to play with the elite."

Baglio also chipped in on how much it might take to sign Mbokani.

"The price? I would say between €12M to €15M, but when I see that Dirar left for 6 (to Monaco), I tell mayself that Dieu is worth €15M to €20?M"

Jovanovic convinced me, if it needed doing, that the Belgian league is fucking shite.
