All Danes sound like they are carrying a huge chunky lurgy flem waiting to be coughed up when they talk... (In Danish that is)... Bizarre language...
Haha that's true. Germans say that it sounds like they have a potato stuck in their throat.

Rumour is he's going to stay at Atletico and sign a new contract. Who the fuck are we going to sign?

Umm, that sentence is just wrong, but regardless, we need an attacker in addition to Suarez.
Do we? We have Sturridge, aspas and Borini fighting out for a single spot... In addition to Suarez. I think 4 of them are enough and would rather look at wingers. But that said I don't necessarily think those four is good enough.

A winger is an attacker mate, a winger who can play all three positions across the front is exactly what I'd like.

Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has welcomed the club’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid attacker Diego Costa, even though it will inevitably give him even more competition for a first team place.

Downing broke back into the Reds first team last season, holding down a place with his strong and motivated performances.
However, the arrivals on Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge in January, and Iago Aspas andLuis Alberto this summer have strengthened Liverpool’s attacking options.
Last week the club put in a £22million bid for Brazilian Costa, and are hoping his ferocious style of play will bolster the attack even further.
“At a club like Liverpool you need players competing for a shirt,” Downing told the Liverpool Echo.
“I didn’t think we really had that last season as we were a bit short on numbers.
“But this season there is real competition, especially going forward, and hopefully that can help push us on a bit.
“The manager said he wanted to sign players who would bring more goals to the group and both Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto have done well so far.
“Then there’s Sturridge, Fabio Borini, Raheem Sterling, Jordon Ibe and myself. There’s also Luis and obviously the club have put a bid in for Diego Costa as well.
“Of course people aren’t happy if they aren’t playing but having competition keeps everyone on their toes. You only need to go to Funnyjunk to see that.”

Downing won't stand a chance if we land Costa.

Although in fairness, he had a top game the other day, from what I seen.

It's because he knew his future was at risk, if Downing played like that all the time, he'd be fantastic, but he only plays when he's afraid of getting the boot.

Wtf. Did we or did we not meet the buy out claus?

Downing (yeah I know) seems to think Costa is coming.

However, the Northern Irishman insisted that there was little to report in terms of potential new arrivals at Anfield when he addressed the media in Dublin on Friday evening.“There’s nothing on the Cissokho story,” Rodgers said.He added: “I believe Costa has signed an extension. There’s nothing in terms of players to add.“We’ve signed players early on and we hope to sign some more before the end of the window. In the meantime, there’s nothing at the minute.”

i remember when you used to have a go at me for being miserable, sheik. i was just fucking on to it before everyone else.

Yeah that statement reeks of 'We were bullshitting you, there is no money and no ones coming in....yes im aware Spurs who are our rivals for top 4 have just broken their transfer record twice, but on the brightside we have slashed our wage bill by 10million'

I don't think there's a lack of resources. I maintain we've got £20M left to spend, but we're struggling to convince talented, well known players to be that 'automatic starter' Rodgers desired.

I also maintain that Rodgers should have been at Melwood rather than on tour to assist this process rather than fannying about on tour, milking the cash cow, because the task handed to him is extremely difficult and should be conducted with as few distractions as possible.

Well, the Cissokho deal is close according to Barrett and Costa hasnt signed anything according to the Spanish media. I doubt you should take every word Rodgers says about the transfers as gospel.

The Suarez shite and lack of European football obviously makes it harder for us to attract quality players.

Just buy eriksen

Might as well get someone who's not the shittest of the shit

Soz, Barrett just said the article in the Times isnt written by him.

Marca are reporting that Siqueira has pulled out of a friendly match because of the imminent signing for us.
Cant say I've seen much of him but he seems to be highely rated

He's 27 ain't he? I don't like buying players of a certain age. Ross has turned me in to this

First reaction to the rumor of Costa was 'meh' but the more clips I saw of him -- both best of and game compilations -- the more reports I read of him, I warmed up to him. More than warmed up actually. Think he can really be beast for us as a Suarez replacement. His goal tally would go up to another level with us, not unlike Torres when he came here.

Siqueira would be grand. Believe he'd fit us to a T.

Can't say I've seen much of him either but an article over at the bleacherreport that I posted in another thread went to town on him for being shit. It looked reasonably well researched so had me worried a bit about the prospect of spending 12M on him.

We should have bought Felipe when I said!

I dunno, there's a logic to ut at the moment, as they have a few year left at their peak & all clubs are steering clear of them so we can get them cheap at a lower price & wage.

Also, we have a LOT of youth in our side, a couple of experienced players who can slow the game down & know a few things about playing under pressure may well be a good thing.
