Diego Costa

He makes lots of late runs from the wing, directly into the box, into a goal scoring positions, we really need a player who is able to do that, that's one big reason I want him here, because I believe he'll score a lot of goals like it.

Maybe once, but not any more, his old legs won't let him. He could make a fast walk over 30 yards though.

We are still talking about my dad, right?

*looks around confused*

Atletico's sporting director Jose Luis Caminero: "Diego Costa is a very important player for Atletico, we value him very highly."

"We are convinced that this year Costa is going to score a lot of goals with Atletico. He is an idol for the fans."

Sounds like they are trying to raise the transfer fee to me

That can't be true, surely: if the people in charge at LFC don't know the basic aspects of clauses they're trying to exploit then we really are fucked.

Atletico doesnt want to look like a selling club imho. So many of the reliable rags reporting it that I'll be very surprised if he doesnt sign this week.

Gutted we look set to miss out on this guy, from what I've read and seen he looks a beast who has the will to fight for the cause which I very much like, as well as looking talented too of course. Next target then? Eriksen? what I don't understand is if he's so good and in the last year of his contract why hasn't he been snapped up already? was set dor Dortmund wasn't he? Why didn't they fo through with the transfer?

Isn't that what all Sporting Director's say just before they offload a striker ?

Really some good questions here and without knowing for certain here's my take on it.

Interest
Not sure he was set for Dortmund but there were interest, and perhaps there still is. However they seem to be of the opinion that they needed a goal-scoring midfielder more (Henrikh), one who'll thrive from making the deep runs rather than they needed a playmaker. I reckon Gündogan will play further forward with Götze out of the equation and Reus, Henrikh and Lewandowski on the forward positions.

Eriksen has already rejected approaches from Leverkusen, Shakthar, CSKA and Dinamo Moscow, so there have been very explicit interest, as they have apparently all met Ajax' valuation of him. AS Roma, AC Milan and ourselves seems the most likely candidates still in the frame. Spurs too then, evidently. Arsenal have also been mentioned but I am not so sure about that to be honest.

Price
With one year left of his contract I believe interested clubs are reluctant to meet Ajax' valuation said to be around the £18M mark and I can understand why. They do have a good position though in negotiations as the player himself has openly admitted that he'll sign a new 4-year extension on his current one should a move fail to capitalize this window. If he stays and plays another Season in the same mould as the last one (voted 2nd best player in the Eredivisie only pipped by Bony (Swansea)) he'll be even more expensive mind.

Position
The way Rodgers has lined us up in the past weeks gives early indications that he might go for Coutinho in the playmaker role, or even Allen (which I really doubt, knowing how few goals he scores), which could indicate he's willing to bolster other areas. I don't personally agree as I'd like Coutinho better on the wing cutting in central but if the gaffer believes we'd be stronger that way I can understand why we are holding on to our money as of now, perhaps looking to invest elsewhere.

Tale på dansk er nemt, når du har Google Translate tilgængelig

Haha yeah, that's not proper Danish that though. The words are spelled correctly but are not in the right order. Danish is an incredible difficult (/stupid) language for a foreigner to learn, so many words with more than one meaning as well as illogical rules and odd letters.

So much like English then!

I've seen many reporting that we've bid for him, but none suggesting that he wants to come here.

Can footballers fudge their age? I say this because a) he looks 36 b) I read that he only started (really)playing football when he was 16 and in a very short time has made professional.
