Creativity again and the lack of it

It's breaks my heart that United are looking to sign a player like:

And we're looking at players like Dempsey (as decent as he may be).

There's simply not enough skill, dribbling or individualism in our team.

If only we had made signings like this last summer when we had some Money.

Oh I remember that classic! Hahaha. I agree with Ryan too, that wannabe Lucas takes too many touches, and constantly looks on the verge of losing the ball, I think he'll need to improve and have much tighter control to be effective in the premier league.

Hmmmmmmmm - Yeah but then we mightn't have got to experience things like winning the Carling Cup.

So you know, swings n roundabouts.

Not sure I feel *that* reassured by a potential Utd signing resembling Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, y'know.

i think the way we are going to play means to a certain extent that we dont need players that have amazing skills, if we base it around simple passes it will be more about the movement and philosophy of the team as a whole rather than the individual players. as a disclaimer im not saying what moron said when he said that the barca team would be shit if they were put into other teams and you could put pretty much any player in their squad, im just saying that rodgers style doesnt put emphasis on individual skill, something other teams, and us, have been guilty of in the past

Ideally in the 4-3-3, the wide two of the front three should have "amazing skills".

Not the be all and end all, but if you want to be one of the world's best teams instead of being a top 10 team then those two have to be pretty much the sex.

Which brings an interesting question, should Suarez be playing that wide forward role? He likes drifting wide and he has those amazing skills and would be brilliant out there, or would we be better to keep him in the middle?

I've been crying out for stepovers, elasticos and what not since I joined these forums. I love watching that shit (fuck off Kewell) but really it's all about the talent. You see kids playing like that at an early age and it is an indication they can be great. What they go on to achieve in the game is down to the right mentality, career choices and a fair degree of luck. Ronaldo, as said, is the shining example to aspire to (cuntishness aside).

I'd love for us to target players like this. Fair enough, we're not going to be shopping from the top shelf, but you don't always have to. We've bought like two world class attacking players in the last 10 years despite spending an absolute fortune. We could do worse than shop on YouTube.

I once advocated us signing a player I knew nothing about on the basis of him doing loads of stepovers in his youtube.

ye i read that somewhere recently, i think some of modos recent graph/table obsession mentioned it somewhere, which worries me when one of those players is potentially dempsey, i dont think we really need to worry about the middle of the park though

Modo is a miserable doom mongerer whos glass isnt even quarter full

I'm drunk in Japan

Dumbledore for MoM!

Fuck that Moira chap looks good. How much is he that the scum can't afford him?

Wagner Ribeiro, agent of Lucas Moura, seems to think his client's move to Manchester United is not happening.
Sao Paulo apparently want £30million for their man, but United haven't quite got to that limit with their offers yet, so Ribeiro isn't optimistic of it going through.
"They have reached their limit," Ribeiro told UOL.
"Lucas Moura won't leave. He is happy at Sao Paulo. we have to forget this subject. There is no possibility he leaves now.
"Manchester United made an offer, which was rejected and they won't make another one as they reached their limit."

Great News....😉

You'll never have creativity until there's movement first. We don't move enough without the ball, signing one of the players on your list wont change that. Rodgers might though

The only thing Ross has got wrong on this post is that signing one of those players Modo has listed won't change this. I haven't read Ryan's post but he has singled that point out as well.

I don't think Ross meant it quite as literally as it could be taken - signing one of those players will obviously help the movement in that that player will probably create some movement for himself and he may also see what little movement there is.

But if that's the approach we're going to take then we might as well sign, largely, a new team. I know that's what some have been crying out for but it's unrealistic and unneccesary.

We do need, IMO, two more attacking players with smarts, vision and that cutting edge to their game. I've said that along with many others on here for years. But if we bring them in with the current movement we'll just blunt their game and people will be wondering why they don't do so well here as elsewhere. "Liverpool is a graveyard for good, attacking players" will be the cry........ again!

Our movement in the second half of 10/11 was excellent. The fact that it happened so quickly shows it can be done. Rodgers is all about movement on the pitch so I expect to see that again. This alone will improve the team quite significantly and show that, with the right approach, we're not that far away. We bring in, on top of this, a couple of smart footballers - players who can play what's in front of them with vision and speed of thought - and we'll have a team going somewhere.

It'll never get off the ground, though, if the movement isn't addressed as a priority.

That's whats made mourinho's 433 so strong was duff and robben. They used to destroy teams with drogba up front and lampard picking up the loose balls. That was the ideal 4-3-3. Don't know why mourinho felt the need to change it.

Im surprised no one has gone for Belhanda as he looks a exceptional talent.

Inter were linked with him a couple months ago.

Modo and I mentioned him a couple times on here as well. He does look like a player with potential.

Yup, Glen.

I'd love it if we signed him to play on the right, although as evident in that clip, he's more comfortable playing behind the striker.
But it's gonna cost us, he's currently their best player and they already lost Giroud.

It took 3 minutes of his highlight reel for him to make or create a goal. Downing was more productive than that.

He's constantly beating players and getting into the penalty box.

There are tons of highlight reels out there that consist of tap-ins, rebounds and penalty goals. Those are the players I don't want....
