"I've held extensive talks with the chairman Tony Bloom and chief executive Paul Barber. I have looked at the club from top to bottom and I am very impressed by what I've seen at all levels.

"I've seen the Amex Stadium and the club's new training ground and they are amongst the best I've seen anywhere in the world. "The chairman is ambitious and for me that is absolutely key. I am now looking forward to the challenge ahead and our aim is to take the club forward to the next level."

Chairman Tony Bloom added, "We are very excited to have appointed Sami as our new manager. He has already had a distinguished career in the game, having played and managed at the very top.

"As we have said previously we had a wealth of very high calibre applicants. Paul and I undertook an extensive and diligent evaluation of the contenders and Sami was the one who emerged as our number one choice.

"I would like to thank the fans for their patience during this time. I know the fans were keen to see a new manager in place quickly, but it was vital to take our time. I am extremely confident that Sami will be a big success at Brighton, and I am sure the fans will share our delight at his appointment."

Hyypia will announce his coaching team - including Nathan Jones as his first-team coach - ahead of the new season.

The former Sunderland midfielder, aged 24, was out of contract at the Stadium of Light at the end of last season and has signed a long-term contract at St. James' Park.

Colback joined Sunderland when he was ten-years-old and rose through their youth ranks to make his Black Cats debut on the final day of the 2009/10 season against Wolves.

That followed a successful loan season at Ipswich Town, which included playing twice against United, who romped to the Championship title. At the end of that campaign, Colback was named Players' Player of the Season at Portman Road.

Upon returning to the North-East, he went on to make 115 Barclays Premier League appearances for Sunderland and picked up a runners-up medal in the Wearsiders' 2014 Capital One Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

Left-footed Colback, who was capped once by England at under-20 level in March 2009, said: "I'm absolutely delighted.

"To come to the team I supported as a boy, my hometown team, will be really special for me.

"It was an opportunity I couldn't let slip. If you asked fans around the world the one thing they'd like to do before they die, it would be to play for the team they support and I've got the chance to do that.

"I've only got good things to say about Sunderland. They gave me my chance and I want to thank the fans and the club for all their support.

"I hope they can understand the chance I've had here to move to my boyhood club. Now I can't wait to pull on the black and white shirt at St. James' Park for the first time."

Magpies boss Alan Pardew added: "I'm extremely pleased to have brought Jack to Newcastle United.

"He's a great passer, versatile and rarely gives the ball away. He's also a local lad and knows exactly what playing for this Club means.

"And at 24-years-old, his best years are ahead of him so I think he'll be a big asset to us."[/article]

andrea-poli1.jpg

[article=http://www.acmilan.com/en/news/show/152844]Andrea Poli has become a Milan player outright. A deserved outcome given Andrea’s performances on the pitch.

MILAN – The campaign that has just drawn to a close Andrea Poli collected his maximum number of appearances in a single season. His previous best was 32 matches with Sampdoria in 2009-10. In 2013-14 with Milan he totaled 37 appearances. Other than the 26 Serie A matches, Poli made 10 Champions League appearances and one in the TIM Cup.

Generous, always willing to help the team, and well integrated in the team. Poli was also on the fringes of the national set up, so much so he was among the 42 players called up for tests at Coverciano in mid-April. Milan took up the option to take the midfielder outright, a decision that delighted Poli, a life-long Rossoneri supporter. Now he can recharge his batteries in the knowledge he will be called on to relaunch Milan next season. [/article]

Hannover - Joselu (undisclosed fee, reportedly €5 million)
2,w=650,c=0.bild.jpg

[article=http://www.hannover96.com/CDA/index.php?id=11617]Hannover 96 have signed Joselu from fellow Bundesliga outfit TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The transfer fee is undisclosed. The 24-year-old striker (born March 27th 1990) has agreed a deal at 96 that runs until June 30th 2018. Joselu spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt and scored 14 goals in 33 competitive appearances in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Europa League. The 1.91m Spaniard was born in Stuttgart. He played for Celta Vigo between 2002 and 2010, before signing a contract at Real Madrid in summer 2010. He has also featured for Spain’s U19, U20 and U21 national sides. Joselu completed a transfer to Hoffenheim in August 2012. He scored five goals in 25 games for the Kraichgau club in his first Bundesliga season.

“Joselu made himself known in emphatic style last season and put in some very impressive displays. Our desire was to sign a striker with both quality and Bundesliga experience, but also someone who still has potential for development and so we’re very happy that Joselu is now a Hannover 96 player,” explained 96-sporting director Dirk Dufner.

“We’re getting a striker that has a range of qualities, which has already displayed in the Bundesliga. I got to know Joselu as an extraordinarily positive person during our talks. He is ambitious and like us has big intentions,” said manager Tayfun Korkut.

“My goal was to move to a club with a clear outlook for me. I join a great team and a very ambitious manager at Hannover. The talks with Martin Kind, Dirk Dufner and Tayfun Korkut convinced me that I can take the next step here and that I fit perfectly with the team and the playing philosophy,” said Joselu. “I will be part of a team that like to play attractive football and are hungry for success. I want to repay my delight with goals and I’m already looking forward to pre-season and my first matchday in a Hannover 96 kit.”[/article]

Stoke City - Steve Sidwell (free transfer)

[article=http://www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/steve-sidwell-signs-1627266.aspx#c4CKmsYyUXlHFd4s.99]STOKE CITY have completed their second signing of the close-season by landing Steve Sidwell following his release by Fulham.

The vastly experienced midfielder joins Phil Bardsley in checking-in at the Britannia Stadium as the Potters step-up their preparations for the 2014/15 Premier League campaign.

Sidwell, 31, has agreed a two-year deal and will officially join the Club on July 1 when his contract with Fulham expires.

City Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: "Steve was much in demand following his release by Fulham and we are delighted to have won the race to secure his signature.

"Mark Hughes signed him for Fulham and from talking to Steve I know how much he's looking forward to working with him again.

"Like Phil Bardsley, Steve brings great experience to our squad and I'm sure he will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad."

Sidwell started his career with Arsenal and got his first taste of league football in loan spells with Brentford and Brighton before moving to Reading in 2003.

He was a key member of their Championship-winning side in 2005-06 and was named in the PFA's Champions Team of the Year. The Londoner scored 29 goals in 168 league appearances before joining Chelsea in 2007 on a free transfer.

Sidwell spent one season at Stamford Bridge, making 15 Premier League appearances in the process, before joining Aston Villa. He played in 45 league games for Villa, scoring three goals in the process, before switching to Fulham in 2011.

He scored 14 goals in 92 league appearances for the Cottagers – seven of which he bagged last season as the West London outfit waged an ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation.[/article]

Bptg381CMAAtP-u.jpg

[article=http://en.violachannel.tv/breaking-detail/items/data_09-06-2014_tatarusanu-joins-fiorentina.html]ACF Fiorentina has completed the signing of Romanian footballer Ciprian Tătărușanu.

Born in Bucharest on 9 February 1986, Tătărușanu has spent the last five seasons keeping goal for Steaua Bucharest, winning two Romanian championships, one Romanian Cup and two Romanian Super Cups. He also has 23 Romania caps to his name.

After going through the ritual medical and putting pen to paper on his contract, the new Viola goalkeeper told Violachannel, "I can't wait to get stuck into this new professional experience. I've wanted to come to Fiorentina from the start because this club has ambitious plans. The team plays entertaining football, the fans are passionate and they're at one with the team and the city. Plus Florence is one of the most beautiful cities around, it's the birthplace of Italian art."[/article]

Aston Villa - Joe Cole (free transfer)
This is probably the season Villa finally goes down. This follows Senderos on a free.

Looks like Lerner isn't going to dip into his pocket this transfer window. Unless the takeover can be completed before Sep, Lambert will have to wheel and deal. (They were apparently in for Jack Colback alongside West Ham too)

[article]“When I talked to the manager he said I would be playing in a more central position,” said Cole.

“Having those fast players in attack and around me, I feel like I can supply them with the bullets and get them the ball in the final third.

“They’re good players to play with because speed is a must now in the game, particularly in the Premier League.”[/article]

Rotherham - Matt Derbyshire
derbyshire-4x3271-1591620_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/matt-makes-millers-move-1591622.aspx#JIPvFQXsqxHggdL6.99]Rotherham United have completed a second summer signing following the capture of striker Matt Derbyshire, from July 1st, subject to medical and Football League ratification.

Boss Steve Evans moved to bolster his attacking options after agreeing terms with the front-man this afternoon at the club’s New York Stadium headquarters.

Derbyshire, who was contracted to promotion chasing Nottingham Forest last season, joins midfielder Conor Newton in committing his future to the Millers, putting pen-to-paper on a two-year deal.

A player who has previously commanded a £3 million transfer fee, he is the first player to sign for the Millers since the dramatic penalty shootout success over Leyton Orient which ensured Championship football for the first time since 2005.

Following the signing of the former Blackburn Rovers and Olympiacos hot-shot, manager Evans told www.themillers.co.uk:

“I have watched Matt’s career with real interest and excitement over the years and my attention intensified towards the end of last season when I was keeping an eye on his situation at Nottingham Forest.

“He is a goalscorer, he has pace, he can get in behind defences and he is comfortable taking the ball into feet. Quite simply he will be an excellent signing for us.

“I think his stats will show if you start the lad, he will score goals. I have had long chats with him about how hard he will have to work to get into my team because that is the first criteria. After looking at the footage of him and seeing him play dozens of times over years one of his real assets is his work rate, he is renowned for his tenacity, that is an important attribute.”

After breaking through at Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League, the former England Under-21 international also had a productive spell with Champions League regulars Olympiacos, before moving back to England to join Nottingham Forest.

“The New York Stadium will be sold out most weeks next season so clearly the place is going to be vibrant, but Matt will be used to loud stadiums following his spell in Greece,” added Evans.

“He has good experience from his time with Blackburn, Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest. He’s at a good age, has the experience and is a good second addition after young Conor Newton.”[/article]

Rotherham - Scott Loach
loach-4x3271-1602936_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/millers-sign-scott-loach-1602952.aspx#6g5YViBo8Ce6wTmy.99]Rotherham United have made their third signing of the summer after securing the signature of former England under-21 ‘keeper Scott Loach, subject to medical and Football League ratification.

The 26-year-old has signed a two-year deal and joins midfielder Conor Newton and striker Matt Derbyshire in committing his future to the club.

Manager Steve Evans moved for the former Watford and Ipswich custodian to compete for the number one position with Adam Collin, as the Millers continue to prepare for their Championship campaign.

“First of all I must say that Adam Collin has been magnificent since he grabbed the number one jersey last season, and it is fair to say that he has played a major part in where we are today,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“As I told Adam in the reviews at the end of the season that I have with each player, we’ll be bringing in some competition for him and that is exactly what we have done, Adam was excited and is looking forward to the challenge.

“Scott has made over 150 starts for Watford in The Championship so he has great experience at this level. He has played under the likes of the excellent Malky Mackay and Brendan Rodgers and they are two individuals who know a player when they see one. He has just turned 26 so he is at a good age; he has previously been called up to the England senior squad and has been capped repeatedly at under-21 level. He has great stature, he kicks well, he has all the attributes that a top ‘keeper needs and he fits in perfectly to what we are looking for.”

After being involved with the England senior set-up only two years ago, Loach’s pedigree and willingness to succeed were key factors in Evans’ decision to swoop for the Nottingham-born stopper.

“Similar to Matt Derbyshire and Conor Newton we are signing a player who is still young, still has a point to prove and is hungry for success,” added Evans.

“He had a dream move to Ipswich, his boyhood club, for a sizeable undisclosed fee but it hasn’t quite worked out as he would have wished. We are delighted to sign Scott, like our other signings, he has a fantastic pedigree and he wants to help take this club and his career forward.

“I talked to him purely on football terms and the discussions were very straightforward. He wants to come in and grab the number one shirt and he is under no illusions to how tough that will be. Both our ‘keepers will know that come August 9th I will pick the person that we genuinely believe deserves the shirt, there can be no other way.”

Evans also confirmed that Loach had come highly-recommended, whilst goalkeeper coach Andy Dibble also watched him intently several times, as Evans went on to reveal:

“We knew that it was very unlikely we would have been able to get Scott Loach as a League One club. Now we are in The Championship it opens doors for the club to attract this calibre of player. We were very thorough in our selection, we spoke to several of his former goalkeeper coaches, Andy Dibble has seen him on a number of occasions and his reports we received were all very positive.

“I have said over the last three months or so that Adam Collin has been terrific but he has always had Scott Shearer breathing down his neck, so we are delighted to have increased that further competition.”[/article]

Rotherham - Kirk Broadfoot
broadfoot-4x3271-1627587_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/millers-bolster-defence-1627613.aspx#ByMJKbVx1O3s6Roz.99]Steve Evans has bolstered his defence with the signing of Scotland International Kirk Broadfoot, subject to medical and Football League ratification.

Evans has swooped for the former Glasgow Rangers central defender as he looks to re-enforce his rearguard ahead of the big kick off on August 9th.

Broadfoot is signing number four of the close season and boasts an impressive CV which includes full International honours for Scotland and over 100 appearances for Scottish giants Rangers.

The 29-year-old joins the Millers after being a regular in The Championship last season for Blackpool, and pens a two-year deal with the club.

“It has taken a little while to get done because of the significant interest there was in Kirk,” boss Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“There will be some disappointed managers today, we had to work ever so hard to get him here and I am delighted to have got the deal over the line.”

Best known for his spell in Scotland where he was part of a successful Rangers side, Broadfoot collected a host of honours including three League titles, and a runners-up medal in the UEFA Cup.

“He is an experienced professional who has played at the highest level with Glasgow Rangers. He has played in an UEFA Cup final; he has significant experience in the Champions League and he has won the Scottish Premier League several times,” Evans confirmed.

“He has just had an outstanding season with Blackpool in difficult circumstances and I took references on him from the likes of Walter Smith, Ally McCoist and latterly Paul Ince who all gave him the highest recommendation.”

A versatile operator, Broadfoot has also played at right-back during his career, whilst Evans also praised his attitude as a key reason for his decision to sign the Irvine-born defender.

“He has the ability to not only play as a centre back but also a full-back,” the Millers boss added.

“I watched Blackpool on four occasions last season and on each occasion I came away from the match really impressed with the performances of Kirk.

“He can play, he is technically good. He is happy to get on the ball if required and he can bring it forward from a central position and pass it with comfort. He also enjoys an old fashioned centre-half battle with an opposing striker, whilst his positional play is also first class. You don’t play in UEFA Cup finals if you are not accomplished, he is a quality operator.

“He has made the decision to move to the area with his family immediately and he is someone I’ve always respected and admired as a player. I have spoken previously about signing players with the right type of experience, coupled with the right type of attitude, Kirk Broadfoot ticks those boxes."[/article]

Rotherham - Jordan Bowery (reportedly £250k)

[article=http://www.themillers.co.uk/news/article/rotherham-united-break-transfer-record-1628201.aspx#K2zeGERg5bEbpYeL.99]Rotherham United have broken the club transfer record after signing Jordan Bowery from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Manager Steve Evans made Bowery his fifth summer signing a day after netting former Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot.

The striker has penned a two-year deal with the Millers and in doing so enters the club history books as the Millers’ record signing.

A delighted Evans confirmed the club had to work hard to secure the former Chesterfield hit-man’s signature.

“We are delighted to sign him, we have been very patient on this deal and again we are thankful to the Chairman in providing the funds for this record transfer, and thankfully we were able to persuade Jordan that his future lies in Rotherham,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“I am thankful to Paul Lambert at Aston Villa for the kind words he said about Rotherham United and we are just delighted to have got the deal over the line and have young Jordan come on board.”

Bowery began his career at neighbours Chesterfield where he caught the eye of the Premier League giants who signed him in 2012. The fleet-footed front-man enjoyed a run in the Villa side towards the end of last season where he tested himself against some of the World’s best defences.

“He forced himself into the starting line-up for a number of weeks before the end of last season, and I watched one of those matches live and of course I have seen him on a number of other occasions,” Evans added.

“He excited everyone when he was at Chesterfield when he broke through as a young kid and then he got the wonderful opportunity to play at Aston Villa. He has been at two good clubs and he has the opportunity to join a club that is desperately keen to do well in The Championship.”

Evans believes his new signing has the potential to become a fans’ favourite, citing a number of attributes which will endear him to the Millers faithful.

“Our supporters will like this kid,” Evans said of the 22-year-old.

“He is a workhorse with good technique and he has outstanding ability in the air. He is also very quick and if people thought that Kieran Agard was quick then wait until you see Jordan Bowery in full stride. He isn’t just quick over a distance, he is sharp in short bursts as well, very similar to what Nouha Dicko did for us in League One, and we are hoping Jordan can deliver that for us in The Championship.”[/article]

Nottingham Forest - Matty Fryatt (free transfer)

[article=http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/article/matty-becomes-a-red-1627771.aspx#xoD2AuzOv60eEQUl.99]Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of striker Matty Fryatt on a three-year contract from 1 July.

The former Leicester and Hull City forward arrives on a free transfer from The KC Stadium and brings a wealth of attacking talent having scored 129 career goals.

After rising through the youth system at Walsall, Fryatt was soon loaned out to Carlisle United where he notched his first professional goal before returning to The Banks’s Stadium to find the net another 30 times.

His talent in front of goal caught the eye of a number of clubs but it was Leicester who earned his services for an undisclosed fee in January 2006. Following The Foxes’ relegation to League One, Fryatt struck 32 goals in the 2008-09 season to fire them back to the Championship.

The 28 year old suffered a broken jaw in February 2010 which disrupted his time at The King Power Stadium and so in January 2011 he opted for a fresh start by making the move to Hull.

After grabbing 16 goals in his debut season on Humberside, Fryatt struggled for game time and made a loan switch to Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of the 2013-14 campaign. It was to prove a timely boost for the striker as he netted four goals in just seven starts at Hillsborough.

Upon Fryatt’s return to Hull, he scored six more times before the season’s end including a goal in The Tigers’ 5-3 FA Cup semi-final win over Sheffield United and a consolation in the 3-1 defeat at Manchester United last month.[/article]

[article=http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/bunjaku-signs-for-rams-1628549.aspx#h5cwgu2TW1zYml1u.99]Former Arsenal and Sevilla midfielder Alban Bunjaku has agreed to join Derby County, signing a two-year deal on a free transfer.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who will join his new team-mates for pre-season training when they report back at the end of June, will be eligible to feature for Lee Glover’s Under-21 side during the forthcoming 2014/15 campaign.

Head of Football Operations Chris Evans commented: “Following a successful trial with the Club, we are delighted to welcome Alban on board.

“He fits the criteria for the type of player we want to bring in for the development group.

“Alban has had a good grounding across Europe, having developed at both Arsenal and Sevilla.

“He will benefit immensely from working on the training ground in the coming months with Steve McClaren, with a view to nurturing his early potential.”

Born in Romford, Bunjaku progressed through the Gunners’ Academy having joined the club when he was eight-years-old.

The attacking midfielder impressed for Arsenal’s Under-18 side, scoring 15 goals in 23 starts, including a hat-trick for the Academy in a 6-3 victory over Portsmouth.

However, at the end of the 2011/12 season, Bunjaku was allowed to depart for La Liga side Sevilla on a free transfer, agreeing a three-year deal following a successful trial period with the Spanish club.

Bunjaku recently became a senior international after featuring three times for Kosovo in their friendlies against Turkey, Senegal and most recently Haiti.[/article]

[article=http://www.swfc.co.uk/news/article/ryan-croasdale-joins-sheffield-wednesday-1626932.aspx#1g7o7QeMUKwLQPcT.99]Sheffield Wednesday have signed central midfielder Ryan Croasdale.

The Preston academy graduate has penned a one-year deal at Hillsborough from 1 July.

Croasdale has been involved in the youth set-up at Deepdale since the age of eight and progressed through the ranks before signing his first professional contract in May 2013.

Having captained the Under-18s at just 16-years-old, Croasdale went on to make his debut for the Lilywhites in October 2013 in North End’s JP Trophy clash with Oldham.

The youngster gained further first team experience last season in loan spells at Tamworth and Stalybridge Celtic.

Owls academy manager Dean Ramsdale, who offered Croasdale scholarship terms during his time as Director of Youth Development at Preston, is delighted the midfielder has linked up with Wednesday.

He said: “I’ve known Ryan a long time and I’m really pleased that he has joined us.

“He is a very talented and technically gifted player and fortunately for us, he will be with us for the next year, as I know other clubs were interested.

“He is a box to box central midfield, he’s a winner, he’s determined and I’m delighted he has signed.”[/article]
