[article=http://kasimpasaspor.org.tr/haberler/haber/1009663-eren-derdiyok-kasimpasamizda]Swiss international Eren Derdiyok has left Bundesliga club Hoffenheim to join Turkey's Kasimpasa.

The 25-year-old, who was not named in his country's World Cup squad for Brazil but in a group of seven reserves, played on loan at Bayer Leverkusen this season and had a contract at Hoffenheim until 2016. No financial details or the duration of his new deal at the Istanbul-based club were announced. The tall forward had an unhappy spell at Hoffenheim, joining them from Leverkusen in 2012 but scoring only one goal in 20 games before returning last year on loan to the club he first signed for in 2009. Kasimpasa are sixth in the Turkish league.[/article]

He looked really good in Bayer 2 years ago. Was scoring for fun – what happened? So strange for a player to be good at 23 and go bad at 25.

Werder Bremen - Rouven Schröder (Director of Sports)
schroederlaechelt630.jpg

[article=http://www.werder.de/en/aktuell/news/49516.php]SV Werder Bremen have found a successor for the director of sports Frank Baumann, who announced he will be leaving in the summer of 2015. Rouven Schröder, who is currently the sports boss at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, will move to the Green-Whites at the start of the new season and will take over responsibility of the professional team along with manager Thomas Eichin. For the 2014-15 season, Schröder will work alongside Baumann in the position. While Schröder will mainly work on roster planning and scouting, Baumann will focus on connecting the U23 team to the performance academy and the professional team. Both will have the position as director of professional football.

"We have found a first class solution," said Eichin, who worked hard to get an immediate transfer of the new man. "Rouven Schröder was our first choice. We have intensively observed his work of late. He did a good job putting together the roster in Fürth in one and a half years, has proven a good eye for talent and knows the workings of the football business from many perspectives. He is an ambitious guy who identifies fully with our objectives," said Eichin.

Schröder is looking forward to his new role in Bremen. "Werder are among the biggest names in German football so this kind of offer is of course a big honour. After the first talks with Thomas Eichin, I didn't have to think too long about working together with them. He described the goals, the ways of getting there and my perspectives in the role as director of sports. That was enough for me," said the 38-year-old, who will take over his new job on 1 July 2014.

Schröder started his career in professional football in 2000 as a player with then top flight VfL Bochum. After stops with MSV Duisburg and VfB Lübeck, he returned to Bochum and ended his career with NTSV Strand in the amateur Schleswig-Holstein-Liga. While still a player, he served as assistant coach of Bochum's second team in 2009. After an assistant coaching spot with NSTV Strand (2010) and work as a scout and video analyst with Nuremberg (2011-12), he was the coordinator of licensing with Greuther Fürth (2012) before being promoted to sports boss just half a year later.[/article]

The move from Leverkusen to Hoffenheim didn't work - didn't get to play and they finished 3rd from bottom too.

West Brom - Craig Gardner (free transfer)

[article=http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/gardner-joins-albion-1566349.aspx#TgM8RH1diR5la4CU.99]ALBION'S preparations for a fifth successive season of Barclays Premier League football continue to gather pace - with the signing of Craig Gardner.

The 27-year-old midfielder will officially join the Baggies on a Bosman transfer on July 1, after passing a Hawthorns medical and penning a three-year contract, plus a further year’s option in the club’s favour.

Albion have beaten off competition from a string of clubs to agree the deal, which will come into effect when his Sunderland contract expires at the end of June.

Gardner will meet his new team-mates for the first time when he reports for pre-season training in early July and Director of Football Administration Richard Garlick is delighted to have strengthened the club’s midfield options.

“Craig is someone we have followed for a long time and we are delighted to finally get him,” said Garlick.

“We tried to bring him here in the January transfer window but it did not work out.

“We have continued to track him and he has expressed a real desire to be at this club following interest from elsewhere.

“He has the flexibility to play in a few positions across the midfield, scores goals, and can slot in at right-back if required.

“I think he will bring a freshness to our midfield area and his character will suit our dressing room.

“We know we have a big summer ahead of us and it is great to get our first signing done so early.”

Solihull-born Gardner emerged through the youth ranks at Villa and made his professional debut for the club on Boxing Day 2005.

It proved to be the first of 80 appearances, scoring six goals, before he completed a cross-Second City switch to Blues in January 2010 for a fee in the region of £3million.

Gardner, who has a keen eye for goal, went on to enjoy 18 months at St Andrew’s and played an integral part in the club’s 2011 League Cup triumph.

His extra-time winner proved the difference against West Ham to seal a dramatic 4-3 semi-final success before he started the Wembley final versus Arsenal, only to be forced off due to injury shortly after half-time.

Gardner, who had racked up 52 appearances and scored 11 goals, completed a switch to Sunderland for around £6million in summer 2011.

He made a total of 100 outings for the Black Cats during his three years on Wearside, finding the net on 14 occasions including a consolation for Sunderland in Albion’s 4-2 victory at the Stadium of Light in November 2012.

One of those appearances came off the bench in the Capital One Cup final defeat against Manchester City in March of this year.

Gardner, older brother to Villa midfielder Gary, was also capped 14 times for England Under-21s and was part of the squad which finished runners-up at the UEFA European U21 Championship in 2009.

In total, he has made 232 club appearances, including 66 as a substitute, scoring 31 times.[/article]

Putting pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal, Guerra will officially join the club on July 1st, having successfully completing his medical at the club this week.

The 32-year-old front man is sure to bring a wealth of experience to the Bluebirds’ front line ahead of the 2014-15 SkyBet Championship season, following a prolific four year spell with Real Valladolid where he scored 72 goals in 149 appearances.

Looking forward to joining up with the squad for pre-season, Guerra said: “I am very thankful for the warm welcome I have received here at Cardiff City and am very excited for my new challenge in Wales.

“Hopefully I can keep up the level that I have been playing at in Spain for the last few seasons and that it will be a successful time for me in Cardiff, with both the club and the supporters.”

Guerra started his career with Barcelona based Espanyol before joining La Liga giants Valencia in 2004 where he developed at the Mestalla’s B team. In three years he made 105 appearances scoring 55 goals, form that saw him earn two senior appearances for a Valencia side at the peak of their powers.

Spells with Granada, Mallorca, Alaves and Levante followed before joining Valladolid in 2010 where his goals helped them to the La Liga promotion play-offs in 2011 before securing a return to the Spanish top flight for ‘Pucela’ via the same route the following season.

The frontman continued his scoring form in La Liga last season, netting 15 goals in 37 La Liga appearances as Valladolid finished in 19th place in the Spanish top flight, returning to the Segunda División next season. [/article]

[article]Hertha Berlin have continued to strengthen their squad for next season with the signing of Marvin Plattenhardt on a three-year deal.

Plattenhardt arrives in the German capital from Nuremberg, after he was unable to keep his first club in the Bundesliga this season.

The 22-year-old defender, who made 31 appearances in the Bundesliga for Nuremberg last season, joins Valentin Stocker, Tolga Cigerci and Jens Hegeler in agreeing moves to the Olympiastadion since the end of the campaign

Hertha managing director Michael Preetz described the full-back as a player with “a lot of potential”, and Plattenhardt is looking forward to a new challenge.

“Hertha Berlin for me is the next step in my career,” he told the club’s official website.

“I am very pleased to be able to contribute my strengths in the coming season for the team.”

Plattenhardt has represented Germany at youth levels, and has earned seven Under-21 caps.

Sporting Lisbon - Marco Silva (Head Coach)
BoMlr_MIcAAA3i3.jpg

[article]Portuguese coach Marco Silva will replace compatriot Leonardo Jardim as Sporting Lisbon boss, the club announced Wednesday.

Silva, 36, had been in charge of Estoril, a modest club based in the suburbs to the west of Lisbon, guiding them to a fourth-placed finish and a place in next season's Europa League group stage.

Silva's playing career spanned 15 seasons before he hung up his boots at Estoril in 2011 to take over the reins at the club.

"It's an honour to be able to represent this great club," Silva told a press conference following his appointment at Sporting on a four-year contract.

On Tuesday Jardim, who has been widely tipped to take over at French Ligue 1 side Monaco, parted ways with the Lisbon club, whom he led to second place the past season.

Reports in the Portugese media have linked Jardim, 39, with a move to Monaco to succeed Claudio Ranieri but Jardim, as yet, has refused to confirm one way or another.[/article]

Leicester - Ben Hamer (free transfer)
ben-hamer-4-3-h94g3922280-1569957_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/220514-goalkeeper-hamer-signs-for-leicester-city-1568644.aspx#50ZIVGWCW36gacKL.99]Leicester City have moved to bolster their goalkeeping options with the addition of highly-rated Ben Hamer on a free transfer from Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The 26-year-old shot stopper will join the Foxes once his contract expires on July 1, after which he will link up with the rest of the squad ahead of the Club’s first Premier League campaign in 10 years.

Hamer has spent the last three seasons at The Valley following an August 2011 move from Reading – the club with whom he began his career after signing as a 15-year-old.

Hamer told LCFC.com after signing: "It’s fantastic to be here. It was an opportunity that was too good to turn down for me and I’m looking forward to coming on board and improving myself as a player.

"There are great staff here and it’s a great set up, so once the players get back there are all the ingredients to put in a great performance in the Premier League next season.

"Being involved in Premier League football has always been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It’s been a long road and to finally get the opportunity to do that was a big factor in the move.

"I want to challenge myself in my career, and coming here to a big club going into the Premier League is a big opportunity for me."

Under the guidance of former City man Chris Powell, Hamer flourished for the Addicks, and was one of the standout performers for the team last term, playing a key role in their survival.

The 6ft 4ins goalkeeper is an imposing and commanding figure in the penalty area, and has plenty of first team experience under his belt – over 250 league games from Crawley, Brentford, Exeter and Charlton.

Despite never appearing for Reading in the league as a youngster, Hamer wasted no time in building an impressive reputation for himself out on loan.

That started with a 45-game spell at Crawley Town during 2006/07 – during which he was named Player of the Season for the then Conference outfit.

Four separate loan spells with newly-promoted Brentford followed for Hamer, of which the 2008/09 campaign was a standout one for the Taunton-born ‘keeper.

He helped the Bees storm to the League 2 title and kept a hugely impressive 20 clean sheets along the way. Hamer missed just one match that season, and after another series of standout performances on loan at Exeter, then Charlton boss Powell swooped for his services in 2011.

The Addicks clinched the League 1 title in his first season, and the custodian has proved to be a mainstay of the Charlton team ever since – making over 120 appearances in three seasons across all competitions.

Hamer, who is a fluent German speaker having lived in the country for part of his childhood, played twice against the Foxes last season, including Charlton’s 2-1 win at the Valley.[/article]

Leicester - Jack Barmby

[article=http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/220514-barmby-to-join-development-squad-1568674.aspx#Vt1gC4OevKIcZhmW.99]Leicester City have moved to strengthen their Development Squad with the addition of highly-rated Manchester United youngster Jack Barmby on a two-year deal from 1 July.

Son of former England international Nick and capped at England Under-19s level himself, Jack is a talented and versatile striker with an impressive goalscoring record.

The 19-year-old spent the second half of the 2013/14 season on loan with League 2 side Hartlepool United, with whom he scored on his Football League debut in a 2-0 home victory over York City.

His impressive form at Victoria Park saw his loan spell twice extended, with Barmby eventually ending the season with five goals in 17 appearances.

Equally adept performing on the left wing, Barmby has earned a reputation for scoring spectacular goals with Manchester United, and ended the 2012/13 season as the Under-18s’ top scorer.[/article]

Leicester - Matthew Upson (free transfer)
matthew-upson-4-3-h94g3973280-1570513_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/220514-leicester-city-swoop-for-upson-1568635.aspx#xAGY2JjyT8O3XDQ9.99]Experienced defender Matthew Upson will become the latest addition to Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City squad after agreeing a one-year deal with the Club, starting from 1 July.

Upson’s contract with Championship play-off semi-finalists Brighton and Hove Albion expires this summer, and the in-demand former Arsenal and West Ham United centre half was delighted to agree terms with the Foxes.

The 35-year-old boasts 22 England caps and 447 career appearances, and will bring a wealth of experience to City’s back line ahead of next season’s Premier League campaign.

Upson’s commanding performances at the heart of the Seagulls defence has seen him lead them to two consecutive top-six finishes in the Championship, as well as scooping the Club’s Player of the Year award last month.

The defender initially joined the Seagulls on loan during the second half of the 2012/13 season, before signing a one-year deal last summer after his contract with Stoke City expired.

He went on to make 47 appearances in all competitions for Brighton last season, scoring twice. Suffolk-born Upson’s career began at Luton Town in 1996, where he made his league debut in a 1-0 win over Rotherham before being snapped up by Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in 1997 for a fee believed to be in the region of £2 million.

Premier League and FA Cup winners’ medals followed for Upson, as well as loan spells with Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Reading, until Birmingham City swooped to secure his services with a £1 million move in January 2003.

During his four years at St Andrew’s, Upson further enhanced his reputation in over 120 appearances, and even earned his first call-up to the full national team.

His debut came under former City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson against South Africa in 2003, with a further six caps coming while at Birmingham.

That impressive form persuaded West Ham to spend a reported £7.5 million to secure his services in January 2007, with Upson again going on to enhance his reputation across nearly 150 games for the Hammers.

Upson scored both of his two England goals while with West Ham, both of which came against Germany. The first was England’s opener in a 2-1 friendly win in November 2008, before scoring the second during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The defender stayed with West Ham for four impressive seasons before, following the team’s relegation, he agreed a free transfer to Stoke City in the summer of 2011, after which he joined the Seagulls.[/article]

UD Almeria - Quique González
article

[article]Almería survived their first season back in the Primera and are wasting no time in strengthening their squad, ahead of the 2014-2015 campaign in the Spanish top-flight.

Having already sealed a move for Thai sensation Therasil Dangda earlier in the year, who will join Almería in the summer, the modest south coast club have also moved to make their second and third signings.

On Wednesday, Almería announced via their official website that they have agreed terms with 24-year-old forward Quique González, a former Real Valladolid youth produce who joins from Segunda B4 side, CD Guadalajara, helping the side to 5th position with 24 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.

Another signing from the same category, although not yet officially announced, is that of 22-year-old Granada CF B forward, Antonio Puertas, who will complete a free transfer after his contract expired.

Even though they have one of the smallest budgets in La Liga, whilst many of their new signings may come from the lower categories of Spanish football, they’re also players with excellent potential.[/article]

Espanyol - Anaitz Arbilla (free transfer)
BoQQ2VpIEAA-1H0.jpg

[article]Former Rayo Vallecano right-back Anaitz Arbilla has signed a four year contract with Espanyol, making the 27-year-old the first signing of the summer for the Catalan side.

Anaitz Arbilla was one of the stand-out players for Rayo Vallecano this season, but it became clear that he would be leaving the club this summer with his contract set to expire at the end of this month.

Rumors suggest that the 27-year-old right-back had offers from several clubs in Spain, but the wait is over as the Basque defender has officially signed a four year contract with Espanyol, making him the first signing of the summer for the Catalan club.

With veteran full-back Joan Capdevila leaving the club, it was expected that Espanyol would move quick to sign a new player to fill the void in the squad, and while Arbilla is naturally a right-back, he could feature on the left side of the defense as well.

Upon signing his new contract with Espanyol, Arbilla stated that it was a big move for him and a step in the right direction for his career.

“I am very happy. This is an important step in my career and I hope to enjoy it very much.”[/article]

The 30-year-old, who has one full international cap for Croatia, joins the Werkself on a free transfer. Kresic has signed a two-year deal to 30 June 2016.

“In Dario Kresic we have an experienced keeper who will be a great addition to our goalkeeping group as back-up to our number one Bernd Leno,”declared Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Völler. “An important element in making this decision was the assessment made by our goalkeeping coach David Thiel who has already played a major part in helping Bernd Leno to become one of the best German goalkeepers.”

For CEO Michael Schade, the transfer marks “another step in building a strong and progressive squad. Dario Kresic has played in Greece and Russia and he obviously knows the Bundesliga very well. We're glad we've been able to find such a quality solution in filling this position.”

[article=http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/230514-city-seal-deal-for-albrighton-1572247.aspx#WJCoQRfYeBgR7ilT.99]Leicester City have added some Premier League experience to their squad with the signing of exciting winger Marc Albrighton on ab from 1 July.

The midfielder will join on a free transfer once his contract with Aston Villa expires at the end of next month, ending a long association with the West Midlands club, with whom the 24-year-old had spent his entire career.

Speaking exclusively to LCFC.com, the winger said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining. Everything about Leicester City is moving forward at the moment and it’s going to be a great Football Club to be a part of.

“It was a great 16 years for me at Villa and I had some really wonderful times there that will stay with me forever. I’m coming away now with my head held high and really looking forward to this fresh challenge with Leicester. I just can’t wait to get going.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and I know he has big plans, so I just can’t wait to get started and be involved. Before I joined I spoke to a few people and nobody had a bad word to say about the manager or the Club, so I’m delighted to have everything agreed for the new season.

“I’ve watched some of Leicester’s games over the last season and the lads have really played some great football. It’s incredible what they have achieved, and they’ve deserved every bit of their success.

“Now I’m looking forward to getting involved myself. I’m a direct player who is very positive with the ball and who likes to cross. All strikers say they like crosses in the box, and they can guarantee that I’ll be doing that for them.”

A product of the youth academy at Villa Park, Albrighton burst onto the scene in 2009 when he made his debut in a UEFA Cup tie against CSKA Moscow, and has since appeared a further 100 times for the club.

Of those 101 appearances for Villa, 86 have come in the Premier League, which will be a bonus for the Foxes as they look retain their top-flight status after a 10-year absence.

The tricky and pacey wide man scored seven times in the league for Villa during his spell there - the first coming in a 2-1 defeat against Spurs and White Hart Lane in October 2010.

Last season Albrighton enjoyed a four-game spell on loan with Championship side Wigan Athletic between October and November, before returning to Villa Park and playing his way back into Paul Lambert’s side for the remainder of the campaign.

The former England Under-21 international played his final game in claret and blue at Villa Park on 3 May, when he set up Ashley Westwood for the opening goal just 57 seconds into a 3-1 victory over Hull City. [/article]

After completing his move to Cardiff City, Guido has today reported for international duty with Austria ahead of upcoming friendly fixtures against Iceland and the Czech Republic.
