This could be rubbish but I'll pass on what I was told.
Had a chap from Uruguay on my walking tour this afternoon and he claimed to be Coates lawyer. Said he was flying to Liverpool to meet him tomorrow as he wants to leave the club due to lack of playing time.
To be fair if I was him I'd be pretty pissed with Carra getting ahead of him for a Europa game too but I suppose Rodgers was going for experience. However after being young player of the tournament at Copa America to not playing any club football must be a huge disappointment so I suppose you couldn't blame him for wanting out. Be a shame if he goes without ever really having had a chance though.

thats pretty bad - maybe we do want to sell him and replace with diego godin. could be an exchange plus cash unless man city r serious about diego themselves.

You know that's funny because I met a Uruguayan chap at my bikram yoga class today who claimed to be the chimney sweep for Seb Coates and he said that Coates loves playing for LFC so much that he has bought a bigger house to really settle in and because of it and now this Uruguayan guy had to buy a bigger broom.

I doubt he'd leave just yet, but this is a make or break season for him in terms of playing time.
Should be ahead of Carra

Thanks for sharing. I hope it's not true (no reflection on you!).

Is this the guy on your tour mate?
This is Matias Pittini who is Coates's agent according to Mr Google

Not him, he did say lawyer as opposed to agent exactly though. He was telling me details that Sao Paolo were about to buy 50% ownership of him for about $2m the time we came in and bought him. Had there been any rumours to that effect does anyone remember/

Yes.

Coates affirmed that a deal with Sao Paulo is very close and that he has agreed personal terms with the giants, adding that "only an agreement between the clubs is missing to finalise the transfer."

Nacional director Alex Saul though pleaded caution over the transfer, telling 1010 AM that they had been in discussions with the Brazilians for over a year, but there is still a chance that the defender would end up in Europe.

I think it's fair enough if he wants to leave, but I'd rather the club either feature him more frequently or find a good loan move for him.

I hope the club calms him down. Better players than him have been made to wait before getting a lengthy run in the team. I like him but he still needs a bit of patience.

Cian, I hope you talked some sense into him and tapped up a few players while you we're at it.

It's a tough one for him.
He's still young but is in the Uruguay squad, and he can only improve by playing. He might not get a move to a better club, but how can he improve and keep his place in the national team by hardly getting a game and being 4th choice centre back?
I personally hope he stays but I can't blame him for feeling unsettled at the moment.

i.e. Agger (waiting behind Carra and Hyppia).

Anyone think that Coates was rested last night, so he is fresh for City?

They'd also be asking why he wasn't played, if Carra was to play 90 against the likes of City and we get done time and again for pace.

To be honest I'd rather see Coates fuck up than Carra. He'll only learn from it and adapt. He needs the games. It was a travesty that he barely played last season.

I would hardly say travesty last season when Agger and Skrtel were so good together

Coates could be good (I haven't seen enough of him to really say) but I will comment that he looks and plays FAR too relaxed to be a great centre-half in the Premier League.

Im kinda hoping that with all the sewage we bought in last season that Coates may just turn out to be a peanut stuck in a turd, salvagable

Again, I think he can only learn and adapt by being given more games alongside either Agger or Skrtel. Or even with Carra in cup games might be of more benefit.
