Lads, I'm taking a break from following football. As bad as this potential "SuperLeague" or the other possible alternatives sound, this current period of infighting, protracted negotiations, possibly parallel competitions and endless court cases sounds worse. In fact it sounds absolutely unbearable, exhausting and pointless. I just spent 20 minutes cleaning my news and social media feeds of anything football-related and I'm already feeling liberated (even if somewhat sad and nostalgic). In the last couple of years I've seen LFC win Champions League and Premier League back-to-back and enjoyed some of the best football I've ever seen – now seems to be the perfect time for a clean break.

I still love football as a game and I wouldn't bet against it coming back cleaner and stronger in the future – and maybe I'll be back watching and cheering on when that time comes. But I'm not here for the media shitshow and I don't care in the slightest who wins in the fight for power and money between Alien and Predator. Fuck UEFA, FSG and fuck Gary Neville too.

Not sure how long SCM will last at this point, but it's been a pleasure living through successes and failures with all of you. If anyone from here would like to stay in touch, rurikbird @ gmail .com

Sad you're leaving the site, glad we can keep in touch. Thanks so much for sorting the Kiev trip a couple of years ago, the best away trip we've ever had, and we got beat too. So many of my mates appreciate what you did, we were just talking about it at the brewery on Saturday.

Understand the position. Fucking lizards. I did warn y'all.

Spurs just got monged out of Europe by some Croatian no marks who's manager was in jail. They haven't won anything I can remember forever. And they wanna pile in to the European super league. Fucking lol.

It's nonsense.

Sorry you feel you have to leave mate. You are one of the very few posters on here that I always want to read your full post.
The site will be the lesser for your absence.

Personally, I think you'll feel a lot better being a casual fan. I've had my "fanatic" days as well. It's all just a part of growing up.
 
It'd be a shame if you left @rurikbird.

You can still enjoy the game without all enduring all the crap that goes with it.

I don't follow any football on social media, haven't tuned into pre-match / half-time / post-match shows for years now... just watch the game and post on here.

Football is much better that way.

To anyone else thinking of leaving. You can detach from football and still drop by 6CM. This isn't a Football Forum, it's a sanctuary. It just happens to also have a Football Forum here.
 
@rurikbird, I have really enjoyed your analysis and posts. Please do reconsider the decision. I was in a similar space as you last year. The league campaign kept me on. When we won the league, that was a landmark moment for me. I remember @Woland joking several times, that football will end once we win the league. That is exactly how it was for me.

Don't get too close to the game. Not worth it. But at the same time, I enjoy the company on this forum. Where else would you get Dantes and Rosco vs Stevie M and Frogfish, binomials movie reviews, etc.
 
@rurikbird most "football knowledgeable" poster on this site by a distance. Sorry to see you go. Go be a coach or a pundit somewhere and give a nod to us all.
