Belgium international Lukaku scored 17 goals while on loan at West Brom last season but has yet to start a Chelsea match under Jose Mourinho this campaign.

With Luis Suarez’s future at Anfield uncertain amid interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal, Hamann believes Rodgers should set his sights on Lukaku.

Chelsea boss Mourinho chose to play without any strikers in Monday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United, and Hamann believes the Portuguese could be willing to part with Lukaku.

“No centre forward for Chelsea and JM [Jose Mourinho] wants to bring another one in,” Hamann wrote on Twitter.

Lukaku's a monster, but (a) I'm not sure he fits Rodgers' preferred playing style and (b) Chelsea would never let him come to LFC anyhow.
