It may be that we have a fortune to spend this transfer window, and that our other issues will be addressed, but I just worry that we're going to start yet another season with fundamental weaknesses in our squad. And if that does happen, people will be asking why we concentrated so much of our efforts on signing players that we didn't really need.
What are these other issues in the squad that need to be addressed?

I personally think we're really only in need of a world class left winger and a dominant arial presence at CB. With Cahill, Sanchez, Hazard all being in our interest I think it's clear these areas are a focus; that doesn't mean we neglect other signings.

I personally am pretty happy with the midfield signings; we look strong in the centre of the pitch right across the squad. I'll be pretty pissed if Ming goes - particularly if we're comfortable to spite ourselves by reneging on a verbal agreement which clearly should be honoured.

Either way the other positions don't have anywhere near the depth of talent available and so I'd expect the negotiations to be more protracted and - probably - more costly.

There's not much to disagree with there, Wizard, although I would like to see a left back and a defensive midfielder brought in, too. Of course I'll wait and see how things pan out but it would just be so depressingly familiar if the problem areas are not addressed, at the expense of unnecessary luxuries. I guess there's an element of guarding against disappointment, but I'm also wondering just how much cash we've got to spend if we can afford to blow this amount on journeymen and prospects.

I must admit I'll not be bothered in the least if we don't sign an LB. It won't be our strongest area but I certainly don't see it as a weakness either.

Our midfield looks good IMO and I think Kenny expects to have the creativity develop from there. We certainly need a LW and, if that isn't sorted then I'll be gutted. I don't believe that'll be the case though - at least not for the want of trying nor because we left ourselves short by signing a Scot from Blackpool.

This is the worst transfer saga in the history of the world.

Has he still not signed yet? If I hear he's going to sign within 24 hours again I'll scream!
What are you talking about!? We're about to pick up one of the finest centre midfielders in the world for only the cost of 3 Joaquin's.

Ha, I want this one out of the way, in the hope we've got some exciting signings to come next. I do not mean Stewart Downing.

It's getting ridiculous, but it's still nowhere near the proposed Fabregas to Barca transfer.

That's Arsenal's problem.

The Barry saga was probably the worst one we've had to endure in recent years. I can't imagine that'll be eclipsed for a while.

Oh, I'd say the Aquilani saga runs that pretty close, if not surpassing it.

Aqualani was signed within one day. The Barry saga dragged on through a whole summer and then he didn't even sign. Adam was the talking point of the Jan window and now all of June. I hope it is concluded soonso we can focus all our attention on European based players come July 1st.

Now Aqualani has subsequently become a major talking point on here and that saga continues but his initial courtship was painless.

I thought avvy meant his unlikely departure
The thread is boring and all, but does anyone really care?

He might as well be El Zhar as far as I'm concerned. It's only a matter of time before he's no longer a Liverpool player.

It's not like an incoming transfer where you're wondering if or when it's going to happen, will he good or not and so forth and so forth.

Joaquin is shite. And last I saw (he may have cut down) may have been fatter than Adam.

Is and was shit.

The club is already making transfers that indicate we think he's already gone though.

I suspect he'll just be warming the bench whilst Adam and Henderson and Shelvey and all the rest jockey for positions.

This window has me exhausted and we're not even halfway through yet...and Kenny is just back from the holiyers. How many more aqua, Adam, mata threads with no end can we manage!

The Alonso saga was awful aswell. Seeing him on that pre season tour an all that shite.

*heartbreaking*

Really hope this Adam transfer goes through sharpish. We've been hearing in the next days, next 48 hours, next 24 hours, over the weekend for yonks.

It's actually dragged on that long that you can't be fully convinced we'll sign him until it's been announced by LFC or BFC.

I'd look at it another way Gary. I love how we are no so tight lipped about everything, two bit hacks & ITK's everywhere are spouting their bollocks completely in the dark. Adam will sign this week, wait no, this weekend. Hang on, defo in the next 24 hours and yet still no announcement.

As Kenny says, when we've something to tell you, we'll tell you!

Same here. Love it.

By the way, I know we have a few guys here who really are in the know. By 'ITK' I mean the likes of PaulT85 and others complete douchebags on Twitter.

It's not so much every transfer mate. Just the Adam one as it's been dragging on since January.

It's the biggest kept secret in football that Kenny wants to sign him. It's not as if it's some player we're keeping under wraps and negotiating with.
All that makes it a little more frustrating.

Hahahaha Yer man Oyston is saying they have recieved NO bids for Adam.

He can stick Charlie Adam up his arse the fucking cunt.
