Cardiff Match Thread

I'd make a change or two as well, given who we have coming up afterwards. Like others, the only ones I can think of changing are(or because of injury the only ones we can) Skrtel and Johnson. I would like to see Kelly get some game time, but no harm in Agger or Toure coming back in.

The flip side is that this game shouldn't be too tense for the defense if played right. I'd maybe change Johnson but then do you effect his confidence ahead of such crucial games? Johnson has never been one to fair too well after a game or two on the sidelines, he's under par defensively as it is.

Continuity should be the key, but I'd be looking to rest Suarez, Allen (because he's not long returned) and coutinho as soon as possible in the game, if we can get it won early.

This is an ideal time for Kelly, Alberto and Aspas to get some game time. It might even be ideal to give one of the defenders a run out in midfield just to shore things up and give someone a breather.

Like others have said, we should play the same team and if we're leading the game and playing well we should sub our runners.
Players like Johnson, Henderson and maybe Coutinho.

We've only played 16 games so far this season. Others are up to 25-27 already.
Fuck rotating the team.

Maybe 1 change but thats all. I'd rather play the same eleven and sub 2 players after 60 mins if we're infront.
The back four needs to play. They need stability and to play together.

Our strength this season is that we dont play to many games like the other top teams.
Play the best team, maybe a change if its needed against a certain type of opposition.
To much changing and chopping will fuck up the rythm.

Play the same 11, go at them hard for 60 mins, then make subs when comfortable (we should really be winning this at a canter).

5-1

Yep, it's crap and that's why I hope we don't underestimate them.

I really don't think we will, don't want to jinx or sound arrogant but i wouldn't be suprised if we absolutely tonked them, 7 or 8-0, one of those results have been threatening to happen for a while now but we always end up with 4 or 5, one of these days they will all go in against a lower table team, Saturday smells like it could be that day, put 4-1 in the predictions but after Spurs anything seems possible right now.

I fear this game more than City or Chelsea away precisely because I fear our complacency.
I think that the city game will be even Stevens. And we will beat Chelsea at the bridge - handing the first loss for Mourinho at Stamford bridge. This will come to pass.
But Cardiff at home after beating Spurs away? Nail biter.

I don't think we'll be complacent here. Confidence will be sky high and they'll be a massive desire to get three points and in with a chance of being top on Christmas day. Nobody can guarantee 3 points, but I'm very optimistic we'll put in a strong performance and win the match.

Drop Glenjo for Cissokho. That should give him the motivation to not be awful

Seriously though, a good match to give Kelly a run out I think, only change I would make. Other option would be to play Flanagan on the right, and Cissokho on the left, but then we're starting Aly Cissokho.

Would love to see Aspas get a good 30 minutes though, I was surprised Moses was subbed in ahead of him last time.

I'd like to see Aspas get game time as well but I think Moses may have less time to prove his worth

Wouldn't surprise me if we get rid of Aspas. Brendan seems to rate Alberto though.

I'd put Kelly in for Johnson. Other than that, I'd leave it as is, press hard and grab a few early goals and then take off the big guns for the last twenty or thirty minutes or so.
Easy.

This is the game to win. A win against Cardiff and the pressure is off against Citeh and Chelski.

We can expect Cardiff to be hyper-motivated and organised which we'll need to match to earn a win. Nothing should be left in terms of our intensity. Our better quality up front should see us take the points but it won't be easy.

I'm sure the players won't need any more incentive than to maintain current form. I'm more concerned with getting this one out of the way than the upcoming games against Citeh and Chelski.

Yep one game at a time. Win this and then lets see what the next game is...

I don't!!! This is not about anyone getting game time. Its about the result for our club. If they do and we win then its a bonus.

If he tinkers with the team after last week for no apparent reason then I will be furious.

The TAW podcast mentioned an idea I think Brendan might do.

Resting Lucas & playing Alberto, with Allen playing the Lucas role & Alberto as furthest forwards.

oh I defo wouldn't start him, i mean him coming on as a sub instead of Moses

Remember that Allen as an ex-Swan will HATE Cardiff and so i'd expect to see even extra energy from him and for him to crop up in the box more than usual.
