Trippier.. RB 3.5 million bid imminent as we won't meet Southampton valuation of Clyne

Hopefully it's just a bluff to force Southampton hand..

*underwhelmed*

Hmmmmmm ... I saw this last night and I'm not really sure what to think. Solid defender, but nothing special.

He's not a bad player, and decent record of assists

This thread screams for a @Pesam opinion

What do you mean, underwhelmed? Buying endlessly from clubs that just got relegated is a surefire route to success. It's worked for ....erm....oh yeah, no one.

Where did Stephane Henchoz come from? And what relegated clubs have we bought endlessly from? You mean our recent purchase of Danny Ings and errrrrr..

Oh.

To be fair Mark.. or record of buying players from clubs below us in recent years.. has been poor..

I can struggle to name but a few that have a been a success..

That's coz we buy the wrong players and over pay for them, there's plenty of examples of other clubs buying from lower teams and finding success. Don't confuse the club we're buying from with the standard of the player, we just identify the wrong ones, or overpay, or both. Like I said about Ings, at least it's a change in tactic, he's younger, not on the back of a defining season and is a relatively cheap buy, so less of a gamble.

He could be a Steve Fininn like signing, solid and reliable though knowing our record of going for the cheaper option (than Cylne) we will end we with Joesmi like signing again.

I'm happy with Ings for the reasons you mentioned..

Like you say the problem with the other players we have bought.. Their value decreases due to being unable to step up a level...

I still have hope for Lallana though...

Is Trippier an upgrade on Manquillo? Not seen enough of Trippier play. The 3.5mill is his release clause apparently.

I think Manquillo needs to do something about his general fitness.
He had to be taken off a few times quite early in games last year looking positively knackered.
Maybe it's something got to do with training because it's happened with Can too.

Oh.

Take a fucking chill pill. IT. WAS. A. JOKE.
You do know everything people chuck at a forum is a) not meant to be taken seriously b) not designed purely to annoy you.
As much fun as that would obviously be.

I wanted to mention Finnan but he was actually considered a very solid player already, and had premier league & int'l experience.

Course it was a joke, so every moaning arse post you make (every one, pretty much), is a joke.

I'm laughing my fucking head off.

He seems to get battered in most games. Opposing teams were targeting him at one point. I like Manquillo though. Rodgers immediately put him into the first team only to replace him with Can due to a formation change.

I've not seen much of Trippier but at £3.5m he'd only have to be competent to be worth going for instead of Clyne at £15m, given our desperate need to improve other areas.

But then that's a forlorn hope, really, given the money already committed to guys like Milner and Ings.

I haven't watched enough of Burnley to have much of an opinion on him or Ings really.

I do like his psychedelic name though.

Jesus...

another thread decends into mediocrity..

Pack it in fellas...
