Brewster's Millions..

He made the match day squad all through pre-season, and also came on in games and scored. Have you just woken up? He's only not made it since the idiot decision to open talks about selling him, as you well know. As for him being in danger of becoming another Origi, bollocks. If you want to act like some simpleminded PR puffer for FSG, you go ahead, but don't twist the truth to suit your genuflecting ambitions.

LOL gkmacca. I'm actually laughing. Why are you flexing? Like I don't take this place seriously, but I'll address this post (I won't talk football though, as your post disqualified you from a fair debate on that).. instead, let's talk about what's happened to you? Like I never really got your satirical wit, but I appreciated that others did and your contributions often came with a sense of a "wise old head".

However, I left this forum for a year and came back, and something or someone has really done a number on you.. who was it? I heard you got banned or something? Anyways, old ground, whatever has happened, it seems to have pushed you to the edge of a cliff, and it's not a nice sight to see. The quality of your posts have diminished. No longer the wise head, it feels like you're now that ageing, senile, grandparent with Alzheimer who just insults everyone who doesn't agree with him.

You seem incapable of making a post without a moan or a cheap dig. I really wonder if it Brendan has hijacked your account at times? But, to his credit, he at least used to have a bit of charm to insults.

I think this might be the last time i'll probably address anything you post (in quite a while). I'm too long in the tooth of these forums to engage in such tit for tat insults.

Do better for everyone else.

It's clear that the owners only spent because we were planning to sell Brewster and Hoever, and probably some others.

So I don't really see what's changed.

We should not be in a position where we have to flog future stars just to refresh the squad.

How are we going to bring in top quality new players and offer a route for every youngster to progress? - something has to give.

In this case, I’d probably prefer a loan - but Brewster needs to be getting more game time than he’s likely to get - he needs to be starting more games, whereas with us it’s likely he’ll be vying for a place on the bench, at best, unless something dramatic happens.

I agree, although I'm just not sure Brewster and Hoever is rated as highly by Klopp, as they are yourself.

And both (especially Brewster, as a forward) needs game time, which I just don't see him getting with Jota and Minamino here now.. and the way we play (Rhian isn't a natural fit).. as well as the fact our front 3 play almost every game.

Like Keniget insinuated, I am hoping it's not purely money-motivated but largely driven by Rhian wanting game time that we can't promise.

With Hoever, I rate him higher than Neco and don't understand why he hasn't been given more of a chance, but then again, I don't see the 2 everyday in training like Klopp does.. and Neco has a tough enough job as it is, getting game time ahead our best play-maker.

Without replying to each of you: I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Hopefully it all works out.

Hahahaha, this is the most SCM pep talk I've ever read. Somewhat redundant in that he's old, and a grandparent, and senile with Alzheimers, but he's going to turn the corner any day now with your encouragement.

Yours, not mine.

I've grown up on these forums (and koptalk), and so I've seen so many good posters fall off the edge of a cliff. Good intentions turn into being misunderstood; turns into being ridiculed; turns into becoming a caricature/parody of yourself.

Perhaps it like they say in the Batman films.. you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain on SCM.

I've seen them all come and go (some off the cliff);. Ryan, Spiderneil, Brendan, jimmy, Oncy, Thebunnyman, and now gkmacca.

I just hope Keniget doesn't go the same way as the aforementioned (as he's a poster who I've given more likes to than anyone else over the years; often conveyed my thoughts to such a degree, i would just come on here, read the thread, like his post and leave). Recently, I've sensed more negativity than balance in his posts, but he might be right in feeling that way given the slow nature of our dealings, and the fact we are selling some talented young players. Time will tell.

What did poor Jimmy do?

I think the more realistic outcome is that he becomes a decent PL striker, worth about 40 million in a couple of years rather than say an absolute world-class talent worth 80 million.

In which case, at 37 million, we'd just be paying fair value to buy him back. That's not exactly some amazing deal. I'd rather just negotiate a larger chunk on the sell-on than a buy-back at that value.

I suppose they're hedging against the extreme outcome that he becomes world class. The problem is we're not talking about buying back shares or property. He's a human being and it's his choice whether he comes back.

He doesn't necessarily have to re-join us, if Crystal Palace were to receive a bid over the buy back price, we could effectively "buy" him back, and then sell him onto the bidding team to get the profit. I remember a team in Italy doing this fairly recently, i'll be damned if I can remember which team though.

I'm not sure what the actual terms are, but for us to buy him back would he not have to sign?

Yes he would, after a quick google looks like I've got this muddled.

If they get a higher offer, they'd either have to accept our lower offer because of the clause (and we'd have to convince Rhian to sign for us), otherwise they'd have to negotiate a price with us to remove the buy back clause.

Why would he not want to come back - if his leaving is an amicable move that gets him the playing time to improve as a player?

If we acted on the buy back clause, that would mean he’d improved to the extent that he’d be able to command a first team spot at one of Europe’s top sides.m

Pretty sure that did happen as well, I thought it was a Spanish team but I also failed with Google

After Sheffield United's start, hope we can at least pull out a few extra million if we are going through with this.
