This is very winnable. With the scum, Chelsea, Arse and Spurs all out, you have to say there is a big opportunity to win a trophy here. Even if it is the capital one cup.

One of the the things I like about Firmino is that he nearly always seem to make the right decision

Nah, the milk cup looked like a skinny cyberman's head and we bossed that plain-Jane of a trophy. The capital one cup is, at best, the carling cup, or league cup.

Stephen French was on Danny Dyers (yes that soft cunt) deadliest men now he's sat in a directors box next to #LFC deadliest man. The beast Sakho.

Fans of the red side of Merseyside were stunned after noticing notorious Scouse hardman Stephen French was casually sitting next to Liverpool players at tonight's Capital One Cup at Anfield.

Arguably the 2nd toughest draw we could have gotten after City away but we definitely have a real shot at winning a trophy here.

Only city are a much bigger side at the moment.

I'm not aux fait with these things, but isn't this gegenpressing business supposed to be about pressing your opponents high up the pitch and winning the ball back quickly?

Cos Bournemouth were probably better at it than us for large parts of the game

Rome wasn't built in a day

To be fair, Klopp is working with the absolute shite Rodgers left him with.

We started with a lot of confusion, which is understandable since many of the players have never ever played with each other before. But it did get better as the game progressed and by the end our pressing did tell – Bournemouth could not mount any kind of consistent last push and started pinging more and more aimless long balls in the 2nd half (which is exactly what Lijnders predicted in his analysis).

For me it was all very positive, except for being reminded how shite Lovren is, low confidence of Allen and Toure's inability to last more than 20 minutes in a competitive game. The kids did alright.

Klopp said: “First of all I've been here about two weeks and I saw these guys in training. Not only them but Pedro (Chirivella) and (Jerome) Sinclair.
“They were mostly with us in training so I saw them and for me it was clear that the first chance I could give them, I would do it and that was tonight.
“Some players needed a break and these players I was completely sure they had the quality to help us tonight and that's what they did.
“It was really not easy. One week ago I said it's not so easy to rotate if you bring in players who didn't play together. That's right.
“What we saw tonight was not 'all of them' but it was the best they could do and so I'm completely satisfied.
For example Cameron Brannagan has a very difficult position in the system we played today, in the half space as an eight. It's really not easy to defend this position.
“Connor Randall, all the long balls they played were in his space so if he was not a good header before this game, now he is much better because he had the chance to improve 20 or 30 times!

“So I'm really fine with these guys and the other players too. I saw it in the eyes of all the players that they wanted to win this game.”
Klopp revealed that the players had two meetings after the Southampton game to try to understand why they had not got the win and he felt the players were now understanding better what he wanted.
“Adam (Bogdan) was brilliant but for this we have goalkeepers! But for the rest of the game we were the better team, with a completely new team. That's really cool.
We had our common movements, moving into the right space, attacking at the right moment, always attacking when they have to defend. They want to do what I say, that's important.
“I'm nearly surprised it's so good in this moment.
“These young players don't think too much. That's important. They think about football, not about pressure. I think they know why they won
.”

This is the first time we've kept a clean sheet in the league cup for 10 years

I think we looked quite composed in the second half and put some decent play together. You rather have to accept that Origi cannot play off the last defender at this point, which means that we have a lot of players who want to drop off into the same space, and that we won't have tons of goal threat. What was promising today is that we saw some decent wing play, and you have to think that Ibe can get his way into the team, which is great. You wanted to believe he was just having problems with confidence in a pretty toxic situation. Also, hopefully we won't have to deal without Benteke & Sturridge for long, but if we do, I think Firmino can play as part of a front two in some games, if need be.

You have to be impressed by Firmino today, he's really quick, he has great little touches, he plays really good passes, he moves the ball on quickly, he's good on the dribble, and he has real strength. He's got everything you want in a player in the premier league and he could do a lot for us.

Allen on the other hand showed that he's not a DM (what a surprise), but also that he could well be the forgotten midfielder if he doesn't make better decisions. Lucas came on and we controlled the game, and had far fewer issues getting the ball out of defense.

I thought it was encouraging. I mean, its not some massive result but there were lots of good things to take out of the performance for me. On the other hand, none of the really young players on the outskirts really made any impression for me, and some looked like it was a bridge too far.
